REGL is a very casual gaming community that is involved with a few games, including WL. Our "Clan" on WL is identified but the "[REGL]" tag in front of member's names. We are open to all new recruits, both noobs and experienced players, regardless of skill. We will also soon have a REGL website up with more information about us and our clans. Once it's up, I will post a link here. The only two things we require of members are to wear the tag and to join our "chat" game, which we use just to communicate with each other and to set up games and such. If you're interested in joining, post your intentions or questions here.
Hmmmmn .... so when I play ffa's without PM enabled these clans, ( REGL and others ) basically have a chat game at their disposal to PM anyway ?? Do the clan's always eliminate the non-clan players before going against each other ??
Sure these techniques could (and likely are) be done by other players ie clans that just don't advertise themselves as a clan (definitely low life's)...
But seems to me I might want to just avoid games where multiple clan players have joined...
Am I wrong? Do clans have any adherence to fair play or your out of the clan??
Is a clan a group of players whom you just enjoy playing or what?
Not really sold on these clans I guess ... maybe u can enlighten me a bit
I'm fine with truces etc. that may evolve in a game, but don't enjoy pre-arranged pre- determined before picking countries or before joining.
Not an attack ... just testing for understanding re Clans
Seems like Clan vs Clan games would be the only good use ! but IDK
Clans are bs. All the players team up against the non clan members even if it comes at the expense of winning the game. Total joke. I'd never want to be a part of such a stupid group.
Zippychippy, many players feel an allegiance to other players who they regularly play, and will alter their play accordingly, regardless of in game circumstances.. I imagine that this certain disease is only heightened when those kinds of players join a clan
(I don't speak for any other clans and this is all my opinion and experience)
You could always make the case of us teaming up together, many people do. In my opinion and experience however, that isn't the case. Most regular games we join that are FFA we attack each-other before non-members just because it's funny or for bragging rights. But usually we try to join games as a team, to further eliminate these suspicions.
As to talking about FFA non-pm games outside of games? I've never seen that among REGL members....ever. I would say that it does some times happen, but we all frown upon it and would rather the satisfaction of winning fairly than because of BS. Such tactics are not supported by REGL, and I personally would not be a part of it or tolerate it. The type of players we look for are not those who use such tactics or set up BS games or use similar BS tactics to win.
But yes, most clans, especially REGL, is just a group of friendly people who enjoy playing together. There are a lot of advantages to that, the biggest being that it adds another fun aspect to the game. We also set up a lot of games with just members, like other people do with their friends, except we have a convenient way of identifying each-other and of talking about making games and such. Another advantage is that especially in clan-only games we don't have to worry about being reported for language and stuff. We're very friendly and are generally accepting and tolerant of noobs as well.
But I encourage you to form your own opinion of us, nothing's cut and dried. If you chose to dislike us simply because you associate clans with cheating, I advise you to re-examine your opinion and get to know us.
Well i guess I need to just pay attention to strategy and tactics when in the future I play against any clans, or go through my games played history to see which clans do seem to play with bias and which don't.
I accept that the spirit of your clan is as u state but the proof is in the pudding so I'll be watching your clan and others in the future with an open mind..... trust but verify I guess.
I haven't found myself suspicious of people in clans before. I've played a number of FFA games that included clan members, and have noticed no particular bias towards them helping each other. I've seen several cases where they have attacked each other more directly.
I'll also agree with Perrin about that situation arising even without clans. I've made a number of friends in games. I've treated people fairly, and been treated fairly in return. I know that in future games with the same people, we are much more likely to agree to peaceful terms than random strangers.
That said, I've not seen a situation come up yet between me and any of these other players where we would abandon a winning strategy in order to help the other. In a recent game I attacked a person I play with a lot in team games, despite our close relationship, because he was the best target at the time. He attacked me for the same reason in a previous game.
In other words, I'm not worried about clans cheating, because I've seen no reason to worry about it.
We now have a live Ladder system with 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 ladders. Once they grow a little more, we'll also be adding more diversity to them. The 1v1 is required of all REGL members but the rest are optional. If you're interested in REGL, set up a 1v1 game with me for chat. I'll answer any questions and let you know how to join in that game. :D
