I'm going to be making a map of the theoretical "United States of Greater Austria," a reformed version of Austria-Hungary designed to reduce ethnic tensions within the countries.

My question is, how should i break down the territories of the more unusual states: Transylvania, Bohemia, Moravia, Szeklerland, and Trieste. Because while I can probably find contemporary regional maps for the other areas, it might be difficult to get territories divided up in the unusual ones.

This will be my first big map project, so I'm hoping not to screw it up too royally.

That's an excellent map, but unfortunately it is far too large-scale. Look at the current state of the map to see what I mean.

They correspond almost perfectly as far I can see:

You territory division has around 10% more or less territories i think, so thats very close.

The Galicias in your warlight map has 59 territories, and in my map 63 territories.

Update: The Galicias are now fully drawn. Next up, The Italian and Slovenian Regions

Some of the divisions on my new map (thanks dutch) are a bit large, so good divisions regarding Hungary, Transylvania, Slovakia, and Szeklerland will be appreciated. I can make do with what I have, but it wont be as accurate.

No, there will be four tiers of bonuses. The smallest will encompass 2, 3, or 4 territories. The next level up will cover major subdivisions (Carinola, Salzburg, Bohemia, Moravia, etc.). After that is the actual states depicted in the template map (Transylvania, Hungary, Austria, etc.). Finally, Ethnic regions (Germans, Italians, Hungarians, Czechs etc.)

Update: Austria is now done! Up next: Bohemia and Moravia.

The website that hosted the template maps for Hungary has broken, so I'm in need of a new template map.

Also, still need Slovakia, Transylvania, and Szeklerland, but a good map of Hungary (districts is the preferable zoom) in the period should cover that.

As you can see, Banat, Crishana, and Maramuresh belong to it, too.

The area is highly wooded. Low mountain range.

P.S. If you use the Hungarian administrative divisions, I will highly dislike you for it.
Same if you use the Romanian administrative divisions.
Thus there is no way you can do it right.
