Hello,

I am still a Warlight beginner and I'd like to know some expert's opinion on the evolution of this game:

https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=13884054

It seems that the two players cyan and red made an alliance to kick me out of the game. I could understand joining forces when a third opponent is very strong. But these two guys seem to have made up a plan before the game even started!! Look for example how cyan avoided attacking Slovakia from the beginning.

So what is your opinion? Am I just a sore loser or this is not fair play?

Thanks
Dante

Looks to me like a normal alliance since they started close to each other in the center, at least no sign of them being the same person meaning there is no cheating involved.

Thanks for your answer. But if the alliance is going on from turn 0, should it not be declared in the chat room? It is impossible to fight against a team of two and I would have rather surrendered myself immediately instead of losing time on an impossible task...

If you do not like alliances, don't play such games...
Play
1v1
2v2
3v3
and so on.

Unless specified otherwise in game description/title/message from the host, secret alliances and backstabbing are fair game.

Also, if you don't want to play against these players again, there's a blacklist option you can use.

Ok thx Rento, i didn't know. I will only play match races from now on. Secret alliances do not make any sense for me.

They met in turn1 and were allied since, which is understandable. In FFA game, when you meet your opponent early, to make alliance is simply the most reasonable thing you can do. Attacking each other makes it often impossible to clinch overall win, because there are other players in the game, too, and they can grow while you fight. I understand that you would probably win without that alliance, but in FFA you have to prepared for such things happening, it is just part of the game.

Even if it is stated in title/description, that (secret) alliances/backstabbing are not allowed - it is not against to rules. There are no fail-safe guarantees here.

The problem is that they don't even fight each other at the end of the game. But you can never be sure, it would be good already if private messaging wasn't allowed for that game...

Either way, it's not really against the rules to do that, that's a big problem for ffas.

If it's clearly stated that alliances or backstabbing are not allowed then it's not allowed. No discussion here. If you don't like it, don't join.

@Rento. Can you please direct me to the source of your claim. I can´t seem to find it under TOS, rules, Warlight-wiki.

@TeamGuns: When two allies remain last, it is common practice to tell their income and if one of them is way weaker he surrenders to save time and effort. Apparently, this is what happened here.

Alliance in FFA should never be allowed though. Because 1/ it's called "free for all" and that's meant to be for the overall game and for everyone, 2/ because any secret team has a direct advantage, making the FFA become a 1v1, despite supposed to be a FFA in first place. This wastes time, fun and stats for other players involved and there is no honour in winning this way.
I can't believe I'm reading "secret alliance are ok if not specified otherwise". WTF. If so, join FFA, pm every player (turn 0, even if you haven't met them yet), and "have fun" winning most of your FFA this way.

I can't agree. I played many FFAs, especially at the beginning of my "WL career", and quickly found out that alliances are common thing here and that making an alliance increase chance to win. There is nothing which prevents other players to become allies, too. In game where are many players, it is simply reasonable thing to do. You can disagree with that, but it is all you can do, because this will be happening. It is "win-win" situation, because even the player who lose in the end remain in the game longer and have more fun because of that :)
Yes there are guys who PM everyone right from the start, but it is minority. I start negotiating when I meet someone, because it has no sense to me to contact someone on the other side of the map. Moreover, it is beneficial "socially", too. When you fight 20,30,40 turns side by side with someone, you develop kind of relationship with that guy naturally. I am proud I was reliable ally in many such games, though I won only minority of them. I don't see anything unhonourable in this, in fact the other way around. To help someone to achieve their goal has value, we all know that :)

ℳℛᐤƬrαńɋℰ✕... dude... are you serious?

Mike, I actually had a lot of fun playing FFAs this way, against other players playing this way. I'd argue that by default it's a common practice to team up, but different people like different things. If you don't want secret alliances, state it in a message and turn off PMs. These options exist for a reason.

Unfortunately, you will still from time to time meet players like ℳℛᐤƬrαńɋℰ✕ who will ruin your game anyway, because you can do whatever as long as Fizzer doesn't ban you, right?

Do you see me playing many FFA-s? Does my profile show such statistics? I am not trying to pick a fight with OP or you. Just no formal rule prohibit allying, teaming, NAP-ing in any form no matter if it is private, public or outside WL as long as they are not the same people. It does not matter what you write in the description. If you can´t distinguish formal game rules from OP-guidelines good luck. I do not understand why such rubbish is still repeated to new players? The only correct answer is: if you do not like certain people, just blacklist them - no rules here, but they can still join your game if they have the link - at least it was told in the forums for some months ago.

If you are afraid of me - please BL me, because obviously I play loads of FFA, where I constantly ally with everyone. Last time I was suspended for a sarcasm - but I am not sure whether this counts if it is directed to myself - does that count? I think R will be R in the end of the day - no doubt about it.
