I would like to make a Large Asia Map, and is it possible to take the Eastern Asia map that already has at least a third of asia and incorporate it into my map?

You mean even larger? Ambitious.

You'd have to ask the map creator about that - possibly using the Map Feedback function.

But even if he sends you the SVG, you'd have to re-type all territory names, recreate all connections, bonuses etc.

I don't think i'd have to retype everything since i'd reuse every territory, i'd just add more like india's territories, etc, and i could get the person who made a russia map for their SVG and make one for central asian republics, afghanistan and middle east (the current middle east map isn't very nice imo)

link to russia map: http://warlight.net/SinglePlayer.aspx?PreviewMap=1633

and you've probably seen the east asia map

btw i'd make some of the larger bonuses in the russia map smaller, espically in the east

Says the man who has automated more of Warlight than anyone since Fizzer.

Lakerman, you would have to retype it.

You are getting the SVG, not the actual map on WL. The territories would be numbered but you would have to give the actual names once uploaded on WL and do all the center points.

i've never made a map on warlight and that was ultimately my initail question: to see if i could incorporate it and apparently i cant; however i will use it as a template and i would probablye do what richard sharpe said in that i didn't know i'd have to retype anything; and thank you guys for the feedback

Also keep in mind that the East Asia Map is a little biased.
Apart from claiming Taiwan is part of China, which is still understandable, since Taiwan also claims power over Mainland China, there's also a slice of Tibet that is administered by India, but is Chinese territory in the East Asia Map.
You may want to fix that in your own map.

@Domenico

I think you're talking about the large bonus: "China Unification" But that only mentions the unification of all Chinese territory, not really all of the country. Just like the "Korea Unification" bonus, which spans over the two Korea's.

lakerman, sure, you can use Illustrator - it allows you to od everything Inkscape does (and probably more, I guess). Inkscape is generally recommended mostly because it's free and good enough.

However, there was a thread a few days ago here from someody using Illustrator, asking for help - http://warlight.net/Forum/Thread.aspx?ThreadID=2697 - he couldn't find the function to assign ids to objects (for examples, Territory_N to designate territories). Since not a lot of people use it for Warlight, you might have trouble finding help if you ever need it, too.

Thanks you guys, and what i would do is use provinces of nations (any further downsizing would result in it being too many territories) so i may not be as in depth as eastern asia map, however it would incorporate all of asia (note that russia would be cut off by everything east of the Ural mountains since the topic of where europe ends and asia begins is highly debated)

I would love to see a larger Asia map, but keep in mind that the East Asia map curves. So if you're incorporating another map, make sure it also curves a bit to better blend in with the original SVG.

Dear all,

I am the one who created the first east Asia map.
However, I have retired from this game a long long time ago ,not because this game is not good (it's actually too good and addictive), but because I simply don't have the time to play any computer games much anymore.

I want to thank those who like this map.

To answer some of the questions here I see people asking:
1) I used Adobe Illustrator to create this map. I found it much easier to manage all the territories (about 622 of them on this map) with the layering system. After finished the drawing the map on Illustrator, I import the map on Inkscape and clean up all the leftover coding/naming error from Illustrator to make the map file works with Warlight.

2) Many people also voice their opinion to me about Taiwan should or should not be part of China or not. I honestly understand where they stand. My answer is, first, this is just a game, better leave politics out of it. If you don't like Taiwan (and/or Hong Kong) being part of the "Unification of China" bonus, you can always create a custom game and adjust the bonus yourself and ignore the "extra bonus" description on the map.
For me personally, even if Taiwan and/or Hong Kong (or any other territory) is/are part of China don't necessary mean they are part of "The People's Republic of China."
I am not a PRC citizen and have no affection or love towards this current governing/ruling unit of the current China.
If you don't like how this map is setup, you can either stop playing this map or create your own map. You can create an earth map with China nowhere to be found anywhere or an earth map where all territories belong to the PRC. I don't care.
This map took me almost 6 months from researching to finish drawing and testing.
I truly wish everyone can enjoy playing it. Fight in the map, not about the map please.

3) To be honestly, I am still not 100% happy with this map. There are always rooms for improvement. Someday when I have more free time, I will certainly go back and make some changes. Like Bangladesh certainly should not have been included in the "Buddha Bonus". And adding back more sub-territories to Thailand and Vietnam.

3)lakerman1495, what files exactly do you need from me? Or have you already created your map and don't need my files anymore? Please let me know.

No, Vietnam and Thailand are already pretty small. You might consider make two sub-bonuses for Laos and Cambodia.
Also, I wasn't fighting about the map. On the contrary, I think it is one of the best maps in WarLight. I was just saying this slice of Tibet is administered by India, so Lakerman might want to fix that in his map.

The SVG would be nice wisdomsword and i'm not very good with computers and programing and since i have a lot of other ideas for maps i thought i should try to make a big one first to start because it would be easier to then make smaller ones afterwards (and i could also fix it up if its not good at a later time)
