40 wins on crappy templates is horrible - only 1/4 templates I currently have are decent. 2 are on the incredibly imbalanced Small Earth map, and another is a FFA. Can you lower the requirement please?
Considering only members can vote on the templates so far, can you lower the requirement to 10 or 20 for now? And bring back the requirement to 40 wins when Unity is released to everyone. Even 20 I think is too much, 40 is just... wow.
1vs1 ladder template, guiroma, french brawl, China are all very well playable. 40 wins seems fine cause that way we can expect almost no rigging of the votes by alts.
I hope it has a way better rating system than the official ladders. Otherwise it will be just ignored by most of the players or only be a tool to raid noobs.
Already given up on this setting, it's too frustrating to climb when I suck at small earth. Not to mention continuously having to deal with playing players far better than me. :( Disappointed to say the least, that I can't get to templates I like.
You're supposed to play Small Earth games when you are a noob after all. For experienced players it has to be a chore, so it doesn't get flooded with alts.
I used Unity client to enable QM games, but I tend to play them in old web/flash UI (which used to work just fine). Just got a new FFA game on the 3rd template, and got a message "this game uses new features, can only be played in the unity client". I wonder what are the new features that the old flash client does not support?
(as a disclaimer I like the QM idea, but the Unity client drives me crazy, starting form the extremely frustrating long load times on both my i7 system , and continuing with a very non-static UI - e.g. try to accidentally scroll beyond possible, and it will actually move a bit before settling back)
Update: issue resolved, the unique Unity-only feature is commerce. Thanks Timinator and dabo1 (who replied to the same question in-game)
It does try to match you with people nearest to your ratings for that specific template. The idea being that you want a game with someone of comparable skill. Also, mod, you're the highest rated player currently, so the side-effect of that means you'll have fewer people near to your rating than anyone else.
Another part of the reason is because lots of people uncheck templates, so that reduces potential matches. You could try checking more templates to see if that affects it. And of course, there aren't a lot of players until it officially launches.
It also tries to avoid matching you with someone you played in your last 2 games. Maybe we should bump that up to 3 or 4 to increase variety? That could result in fewer games, though. Maybe 2 for RT and 3-4 for MD. (not that RT matters now, but it will in the future)
