Ok, how about you make a post about it yourself then instead of complaining and trying to derail this.

It's only the third once in a thousand years hurricane that is hitting the US this month, seriously, at some point someone has to realise that's not fucking normal.

Gl to Puerto Rico, stay safe.

Without intending any judgement on the question, I am not going to make assertions regarding what is normal or not concerning hurricanes, or tropical cyclones.

Instead I draw your attention to the analysis of the trend in the global average surface temperature, by the United Kingdom's MET Office at University of East Anglia.

Dont get me wrong, but why is OP only wishing people from Puerto Rico to stay safe and not the other, even more populous, regions that are affected by it as well?

Well, as of now the most populous place affected by it is Puerto Rico. Dominica and Guadeloupe also took strong hits, with Dominica taking one at near-peak intensity. Bahamas may get some effects. Luck to them as well.

2017 is a La Nina event so that means more hurricanes

At the present time ENSO neutral conditions are present.

According to NOAA's Climate Prediction Center, ENSO neutral conditions have held since January of 2017.

Moreover:
The chances for the continental U.S. and the Caribbean Islands to experience a hurricane increase substantially during La Niña, and decrease during El Niño.

Names are chosen 5 years in advance from a region known name to make it easy for people to get the hurricane message. When a hurricane does a lot of damange, the name is taken away from the list.

That way, Katrina, Harvey and Irma won't ever come back as hurricanes, as they are now names of historical events.

For the nina/el nino thing, the events are made more powerful because of climate change, that's why this hurricane season is so fucked up...

La Nina does not like the Eastern side of North America (including Islands). Does el Nino screw with Asia and Typhoons?

Yes.

El Niño contributes to more eastern Pacific hurricanes and fewer Atlantic hurricanes.

But the media adopted name from some Facebook sources........

Oh I see, I guess it's just the media being the media lol. They're very good at giving names that go against the scientific definition of events.
