Vaporwave makes use of sampling bits from other media, sometimes short talking scenes, other times entire songs. Simply slowing down a song is considered a rudimentary form of vaporwave. Sounds are given a low-fi effect such that the listener feels like they have "transcended" the music, as if the music is self-parody. The genre converges a myriad of different media into one vapor-like piece of trivial satire.
