Possibilities for different boot times: 2017-10-11 15:09:12

Hello,

I like fast games, but see the need, that e.g. you need in team games additional minutes in first turn, so you can discuss a strategy and check picks etc.

Also you need later in the game (especially in big maps) more time.

I found nothing, how i can configure that.

I would like e.g. a feature, that turn 1 can have additional minutes and that e.g. there are additional cards, where you can earn boot time.

With that you can create fast games, which will have the possibility, to get additional time, when its needed in the game.

This already exists in the form of banking boot time.

no it does not!
e.g. I will have in turn 1 (but only in turn 1) 3 more minutes, which are due, once turn 1 is over.

And second: If you plan a game with tight timing, you cannot save much time.

Tell me, how i can configure a game like that:

turn 1: 6 minutes
turn 2-10: 3 minutes
turn 11-15: 5 minutes

The problem is, when starting with banked boot time (meant for the first turn), different players use this in different turns, to extend the playing time, resulting in wait for the others.

What I have in my mind is a flexible turn timing, which is not (or only limited) depending on fast playing, but adapts on the progress of the game.

There maybe other games, where shorter games in the last stage are making sense.

Another thing would be an extension, allowing only a certain amount of banked boot time per turn. E.g. even if you have 10 minutes on the bank, you can use each turn max 2 minutes.

You confused yourself about how banked time works. It's not only for the first turn. Banked time reduces if and only if you spend more than 3 default minutes on any of your turns. Which means if your game's boot settings are 3 minutes + 5 banked minutes, then you can save these 5 extra minutes (or less) for later turns if you do first turns quicker. If you are saying that it is still not enough and you want to spend like 10 minutes for your later turns (or picking turn), then you can change both boot time and banked time settings as you wish.

No, I understand how banking boot time works.

Yes, and exactly this is, what I ask for!

I wish the possibility, to have e.g. in turn 1 (and only in turn 1) 3 (or any other number) of extra minutes.

And instead of earning bankend time (which is good, to keep games going), it would be also helpful, that at specific turns all players earn some additional time (that could be done with cards)

In addition there should be a possibility to limit the usage of banked time per turn. E.g. not more than 2 additional minutes (even if the player has 20minutes in the bank).

That would allow much more predictive games, preventing that turns will last forever.

See https://www.warlight.net/wiki/Banking_boot_times.
When creating a MP game, in the Basic settings, scroll to boot and click on customise.

I guess currently the only way to get a setting you describe is programming a mod. But not even sure if it's possible with that yet.

I know where and how to configure autoboot. This is not the question!
However I see several shortcomings in autoboot, which are unfortunately not described in in the wiki article, i already have checked!

Master of Desaster seems to be the first, who understands my question.

There is a solution for extra time for the first x turns (all together) but dynamic extra-time per turn is not.

I agree with dot, banking boot time doesn't actually fix the problem. First turn can take time in manual picks. In the case of banking times you don't necessarily want that time that could of been used towards the end game being used on picking and strategy discussion. I know you can adjust the banked time according to turns played or % of time remaining but for this to work perfectly you need to be very familiar with the temp you playing and the pace of the players playing as well. This can be very tedious.

A suggestion would be have an option for first turn being longer as well as a separate option to have a progressive banking time after a certain turn

First turn being longer might still be achievable with banked boot time. You can create N minutes of banked boot to start with, bank 0% of new time, and expire banked time after 1 turn.

I think dot is right in that you can't set boot time on a turn-by-turn basis, but I also don't see a whole lot of use cases for that outside the pick stage.

Bank Duration. Banking boot time has 3 settings- initial banked time, bank percentage, and bank duration. You can cause boot time to expire using bank duration.
