Searching for players seeking a challenge! (Sp): 2017-10-12 18:51:45

I have meddled quite a bit in the basics of creating single player levels in the last months.

I have tried to make increasingly harder levels, and some have come out as hard as I had intended them to be.

Nevertheless, I feel like fewer and fewer skilled players try their luck with the newest Sp levels.

Currently as per Muli's userscript, most of the top10 hardest levels have been made by myself. I am pretty sure some of the levels have no merit of being that high, but due to the lack of good players they ended up with many attempts and few wins.

Since in the forum there are quite a lot of skilled players, here is a list of some of my levels for anyone interested in a challenge!

I would be very much interested in finding players that can win any of these 6 levels, that are all left without wins:

For anyone else interested, these are all levels that hold a 1% or lower win rate:

Nice work - I'm always fascinated by super hard levels.

I predict that making/playing hard community levels will become more popular once the Unity client releases. For two reasons: community levels will be opened up to mobile users, and it also has a "most difficult" sort that will bring these levels to the forefront.

I just checked 3 of these super hard levels. I am not sure if all of them in theory are winnable even with perfect predictions.

Y'll here thanking our man, but really he is just destroying our confidence! #noHardLevels #evrybodyWins

@Rufus, You have to beat a level to publish them. In other words, they are winnable. OP beat all of them.

let me just say that a certain degree of luck is needed for certain levels, but that they are all winnable!

Also for this level:

I would advise getting a win in the original and easier version made my l am so smart 3:

you need to be able to constantly score wins on his level in order to have a chance with mine.

Lepanto, I played a level very similar to your "Bonne Chance" just a few days ago. Not a scenario level, but multiplayer. It was on that small map of Earth, and we started with about six players. One by one they all got bumped off until it was just me and one other guy. He took North America, Europe, and Australia, but one of the booted players had left ~25 armies in Africa and ~95 in Asia, making it almost impossible to capture the bonuses. I had been building up armies in South America while the three remaining players duked it out, so when the last guy finally picked off the other two, I had ~150 armies that I blew into Africa with and started heading up north through Europe. Up until then it had seemed certain that he'd win since he had so much territory, but my big army began taking over Europe and stuff. We had almost equal armies at that point, and soon my production was greater than his because I think I had South America and he'd lost Europe and North America--but I think he managed to hit my big army with an even bigger one. Had it not been for that I think I would have won, but thereafter I just didn't have the armies to contest him. I wound up taking Australia, but by then he had basically everything else, and when I brought my Australia armies out to try to attack his bonuses again it was already too late, and he had too much power for me to stop him.

Anyway, I tried your Bonne Chance map--quite similar. I didn't win it . . . the 50%/80% kill rates certainly change things--and not in a good way for the human player.

as the title implies, a bit of luck is needed. 2-3 attempts are not enough! ;)

Still no wins! :(

I moved the Unite Japan level in the unbeaten list! This was a fun to publish level, you should try it out!

No wins?

This is rubbish. I managed to kill the commander, but to defeat the whole map without any income is impossible. (speaking of "Bonne Chance").
I really see no reason to play those levels, because this is only frustration, nothing else.

to be precise you tried Bonne Chance 3. :D

Maybe your strategy is not the optimal one. For example, why did you kill the enemy commander?

I don't think they're impossible by any means. I don't even think you need to be good to beat them, you just need to be stupidly patient and not mind trial and error. I'd be surprised if the OP could actually beat most of the people that have posted in this thread at multiplayer warlight.

I see only 1 attempt made by you on one of my levels. I don't really understand how you can make such broad statements without heaving played more levels.

The difficulty of a level is very subjective, as some might find them hard while others might find the levels rather easy, but objectively speaking out the 4000+ published levels, these 6 are currently the only ones without a win. Like I said in my original post, I am sure that there are quite a number of forum posters that can get wins of them.

That said, if you think the average player can beat them with some patience, why don't you give it a try? :)

I can assure you that I would get beaten all the time by all posters! But what does multiplayer have to do in all of this? I never claimed to be good at mp, not even at sp if that even counts for something.

good job muli!

kinda interesting that you used a completely different strategy to the one i used! I think your strat had even more luck involved than mine!

after turns 4-5 i was thinking: "great starting strategy, how the hell did it go to turn 69!" Then i saw what happened in america :D

Yeah, that was a bit of a mess. I guess it wouldn't be too hard to get a way lower turn count with the same strategy. (But didn't want to risk anything before getting the first win)

We will soon reach 1M attempts on player made levels!

I thought more players would have been interested in beating Caesar's Challenge 2.0, due to the popularity of the original level! Should be a challenge even for the wl masters! ;)

That speaks to my earlier comment.

It's not "challenging" to play from a lost position, because the secret to winning is the AI messing up.
