Was just trying to upload an svg image for map design (to test and learn) but it shows up completely blank/white.

I set the opacity of unwanted objects to 50%, and moved them to the bottom
The outlines of counties in the map were moved to the top layer..

I then selected four objects and changed their IDs to Territory_1 - 4

This was all done in Inkscape, but honestly i'm completely unfamiliar with any image editing software beyond the scope of Paint, and have only been obsessively playing Warlight for a few days. Still, was curious to start messing with the idea of making a map of Chesapeake Bay area and Virginia.. a lot of rivers and islands could make for an interesting fight, where a lot of important areas aren't landlocked but still have connections at specific places (bridges & tunnels)

I've been thinking about this long before i ever discovered Warlight, just from playing the board game Risk, and trying to apply the same rules to alternate maps.. but with Warlight, even more fun possibilities open up, using alternate versions of historical events that occured in Virginia, like maybe a British breakout from Yorktown in 1781, or Union/Confederate fighting around Richmond & Petersburg.

Anyways, if anyone can think of any obvious mistakes I might be making with Inkscape, or even better, would be interested in working together on a map/scenario like this, please let me know. Thanks to everyone involved in making this awesome game and the maps to play on it!

Did you definitely save the file before uploading it?
I don't think WL's map editor supports layers, so keep everything on the bottom layer. (Unless you mean sent to back instead of sent to bottom layer.)

Layers is not an issue, used that on my last map. (Wow, that is the first time I got to say that :P )

When uploading to WL the opacity gets ignored/reset I believe as well. I don't really know what you did wrong, BUT if you JUST uploaded an image that you imported to inkscape and that was not converted to bitmap or something, then I think this could happens. Try drawing/making a box or well-anything and see if it shows up.

If it doesn't, then it could be outside the view/canvas. So just draw a box that fills the whole canvas (say a background color you want) and see if it shows.

It is hard to get the canvas the right size on the first try, so you will likely end up resizing the map by trial and error until it looks good.

There are way more experienced map-makers out there, so don't assume I am right. But the try-steps I said should be safe to attempt :P

Allright! Thanks
Like you said, just needed to draw something and get the sizing right through trial and error.. now I've got a good looking Virginia map uploaded and ready to play with :D
..only problem is, I can't seem to find how to play a game on it/test it.

Based on what I can see from your profile I don't know if you have made any games yet. But, this is where you select the map you have after setting it to testing.

In SingelPlayer, scroll all the way the down then there is a CustumGame link. https://www.warlight.net/SinglePlayer?CustomGame=1

That is what I tried to show you in the Screenshot. There is a drop-down where you can select "Your Testing Maps". For normal day-to-day I recommend leaving it at "All".

Also, as you already may know maps and features unlock as you level up. However, you always have all* settings unlocked for your own map.

*I don't know about bomb cards + commanders. But I think you do for them as well.
