mutually inclusive? i'm not sure i get that part...

in any case, his words were in partial haiku form:

"Honour and glory? Lol,
dude it's a game."

in a game he mentioned honor. he did not provide any more context than that. being bored and sleepy as i am, i wanted to have some fun with words, as it seems you do, richard.

idiomatic expression: so you really just give a damn, ace? if mathwolf is reading this, he might feel dejected. lol

being an honorable man, i still stand by my words!

"i think every good/great player seeks [respect and esteem] and [a sense of achievement gained by] competing with the best." (adding the definitions of honor and glory requires grammatical adjustments)

You can stand by your words but that doesn't make them correct, it just makes you stubborn. I disagree that **every** good/great player etc. etc.
Many, yes. Most, maybe. All, definitely not. What's true for you isn't true for everyone I'm afraid

Anthropology .

clan (klæn)

2.
a group of families with a common surname and a common ancestor, acknowledging the same leader, esp among the Scots and the Irish

3.

the only relevant definition would be 3... (20) is a group of people united by a common trait, to be, or having been, the best, and known/seen as the best.. thus (20) is a clan

more word games lol...

"i think every good/great player seeks..."

the important part is the verb: seeks. i did not qualify the verb. i did not say "every good/great player *always* seeks." if i had, your interpretation is absolutely correct. since i did not qualify *seeks* with an adverb, your interpretation assumes something i never in fact said.

my meaning: at one time or another or perhaps all the time (note, 'or' is singular), every good/great player seeks...

with all respect Perrin, in this place we mean "gaming clan" not "clan".

Gaming clan: In computer and video gaming, a clan or a guild is a group of players that play online games together. They may play against other clans via matches or challenges, also known as scrims (scrimmages) and wars.

Which generally means a group of players who associate with each other and challenge other such groups to games.

As to Gui, what i was referring to in not liking you was your smug attitude and your all-or-nothing mentality that makes you generally hard to communicate with in any way shape or form. But this is just so off topic now that there's no hope of even rectifying the thread....so I shall make a new one. If you wish to continue debating trivialties here, please continue, but refrain from doing so on the new "Clans" thread.

Thank you
~Eagle~

father regulator, i communicate well with all my opponents. there is always a gl, a gg, and maybe even a lol in my chats!

as for internet forums being a place for intimate conversations, i think your expectations are a bit high. many don't participate in forum discussions for intimacy. i don't know a single player on this site who uses a real name *and* a photo of their face as their image. and the only way to become friendly with anyone is to play that person a number of times and slowly build up a rapport. i've played you, master regulator, all but 2 times. i don't know you. you don't know me. the virtual world is a shadow world similar to plato's cave. maybe in real life we could be...(friends?)...no i doubt that. i dislike your overemotional tunnel vision, know-it-all attitude, authoritarianism and penchant for cliches.

first.....can someone explain who this "master regulator" is?

second...If you'd ever been in a clan, you know that it can ago further that just a simple rapport. We talk all the time, have specific games set up just for chat, have live chat, forums, and soon will have Voice chat.

that's what I'm talking about, just stop pretending like you're god's gift to mankind, cuz you're not. Get over yourself.

it is my honest opinion: while i waited to tutor a student, i thought it was interesting/fun to have a senseless exchange here. but i dont think you, dear leader, enjoyed it, given how emotionally charged and personal much of what you say is.

an examination of your language:

"full of yourself": a cliche.

"that's what i'm talking about": literally, the phrase is a bit ridiculous. without saying anything at all, you say "that's what i'm talking about." *i am talking* is the present continuous tense. so if you are not saying it in the present moment but say you are talking about it, it has no meaning. empty words.

"god's gift to manking": a stock phrase used by unimaginative minds to criticize someone else in no specific way, yet universally and completely.

"cuz": a non-word every college student should learn to avoid using if they want to improve their english.

"get over yourself": another cliche whose intended effect is weakened by overuse.

i'd suggest reading more books and spending less time on warlight, dear leader.

so, all i read from your comments was this:

"stupid arrow pointing upward [Cliche #1] stupid arrow pointing upward

[cliche #2: chest thumping], just stop pretending [stock phrase], [non-word] you're not. [cliche #3]."

I....I don't even......Your level of arrogance, hypocrisy, and ignorance are at a level that can only be compared to those of Hitler himself....you should be proud of yourself.

None of what you said made any difference in this conversation, as it had NOTHING to do with the conversation's topic. But since you want to call me out for absolutely no reason, I'll contend my point. You attack my grammar, but fail to capitalize the beginning of most sentences. You use "gg", "gl", and "lol" but attack me for the use of "non-words" for college students. You criticize my use of cliches, but use phrases like "know-it-all attitude". You say I should read a book (I assume because I use common phrases and words), while you yourself just repeat any word you like such as "cliche" so much that you make the word itself look like a cliche. This is the internet, stop complaining about grammar and word use and start paying attention to the meaning behind what someone's saying. In this case, I'm saying something along these lines: "You're a pompous ignoramus who instead of actually participating in an discussion, cuts down others and purposely distracts from the conversation at hand in order to divert attention away fro your own flaws and ignorance. You sir, are a Troll to the worst degree. Go back to 4-chan instead of cluttering up threads on Warlight."
