I've been raised up in a dialect. I've always had trouble speaking Dutch :s. I was taught French at age 9. English at age 11 and German at age 15. I'm fluent in all 3 of them. Thanks to our spectacular school system in Belgium I also took Spanish classes for 1 year and extra german classes

If each state in the US had a different language we'd all speak 5+ languages fluently too.
But instead we had the brains to all speak one language so we can spend our time in school learning things like engineering and finance. And thus, we have the world we live in today. Americans mostly speak just English, but we rule the world.

I was born in Karnataka, grew up in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, currently in Uttar Pradesh. Really can't say where I am from,but can say I am from India :P
