I never play single player but seems fun to give it a go. Just could you explain each boss? Are they just a commander with the health of the number next to them?

Bump.

here is what i wrote some time ago about the 4 different boss types.

In this scenario you will find boss type #1 (the one starting in rome) and boss type #2 (partha)

The number next to a boss is equal to it's fighting power. While boss #1 can be chip damaged to 0, boss #2 can only be killed in one attack.

It takes 30 turns to take over all the territories. Once I eliminate Barbarians, Rome AI knocks on my door and wrecks France. Then Partha comes and sends 100 armies reinforcements every turn.

If you have to deny all the income, move all those small armies on the map and then rebuild your forces, it will rather take 100+ turns for a win.

I think that winning in 100+ turns is probably a lot harder than winning in 50- turns.

Considering your sanctioned income, and the fact that every 5 turns the red boss will drop some heavy reinforcements (eg at turn 96 he will place 244 armies) a late win is highly improbable! Either you manage to get a quick win, or you will probably end up with a defeat!

huh. if that was planned then THAT is rly clever. (probably wasnt planned but who knows)

atleast im pretty confident to know why you placed that neutral 10 on that 1 spot.

there is only 1 thing that annoys me. that you need luck more than skill. 90% of my trys were just hoping that rome moves his goddamn boss south and not north

the general concept of the level has been taken from the single player level:

https://www.warzone.com/SinglePlayer/Level?ID=74

so that is the reason you have that 10 armies blockade (so that barbs will push on you early on) and why you also have a boss starting in rome. In the original version the boss is different and you are not able to see him, making it even more of a "gamble".

well the first couple of turns are rly easy and i always kill Barbs on the same turn number. aswell as i always push red back tho the problem i have that you need so much luck for the rome boss to go the way you want that you need 99 trys to hope until he goes where you want and then you need to actually win still.

you need so much luck

yes you do need luck, but you also need ai fighting skill, else out of 375 tries someone would have been lucky enough to score a win.

to make hard levels, a certain degree of luck is needed, else you are making puzzle levels. Hard levels with 0 luck but only one possible solution.

i prefer puzzle levels over AI-lottery levels where you need luck to even have a chance to beat it

WZ's AI algorithm is based on randomness. Of course there are priorities, but in many cases AI is capable to do some really weird stuff, like to attack a large stack with only few armies (not 1). So yeah, I am avoiding these single player challenges if its solution is 15+ turns.

@Lepanto ofcourse most levels just need luck but a level isnt hard when you need way more luck than skill. and out of all of my trys i only got the boss once or twice to go there were i want. if i had a start position later that game where the commander actually went to the direction where it needs to go this level isnt that hard. for example my hardest multiple scenario can be beaten 100 out of 100 times when you know how to.

@Timinator when you like puzzle levels more than you should may try my Multiplayer level (mentioned befor) out when you have 3 more friends / clan members to try it out. There is a litle puzzle and as far as i know there is only 1 sollution to that scenario (or atleast all the other ways make it a ton more harder) tho its on a big map so its time consuming. when you want to try it tell me your friends names (and level / where they play from) and i can invite you guys to it.

@Master Shinra about the AI im still questioning if the singleplayer AI is a different one to the Multiplayer AI since the singleplayer AI plays way dumber than the multiplayer AI. (atleast when the AI has a stack of 22 next to a stack of 3 it just doesnt attack it on bigger maps.) i once did let 2 AI's fight on a big map and at some point noone was rly taking anything and when eventually someone won i saw how they were randomly putting stack somewhere and not move them. But as long as warzone doesnt has an self learning AI these AI's will always be worse since there is no way that works always.

No, it's the same AI in singleplayer and multiplayer games. It's called Prod.

I was able to consistently get the rome boss to go south and into greece and such, the key is to get to the italia bonus by turn 9 (which is hard) because half the time he hasnt completed it yet and you can stop him from completing.

But I cant win out vs the Parthia boss' income help to the rome boss :/

Best run I had when the rome boss actually went to anatolia and stopped that superbonus from ever being completed by the Parthia boss, but still its pretty hard

just to give an idea of what income i had on my winning attempt, at the start of turn 11 I had 76 income while rome had 78. By the end of turn 11 I had 84 and rome 81!

yes it is hard to face both rome and partha at the same time.

a quick run down of how the game should go:

Turn1-8: expansion and killing off barbs
    Turn8-12: expand and push rome
    Turn13-17:maximum income stage (around 125-140income)
Turn18-20: you get sanctioned and pushed back thanks to the reinf from partha.
By turn 22 you should have broken the Magna Asia bonus.
After that it's simply a work of containing the enemy attacks while you advance towards yellow's commander!
At around turn 28-30 there is an extra surprise; a 200 troops reinf card will be played by either rome or partha

I think I can do it in about 50 turns, but gave up since 40 turns seems a bit too tricky.

I've got early game expansion down - first 20 turns, then you need to shoot for yellow's commander (I can probably kill him about turn 33). But then that sacrifices expansion to red, and i don't see how I can kill red by turn 40.
