yeah, -1 for VaporX.

But yeah, it's definitely needed. That's why there have been many threads about it :P there's also a highly supported feature for it on Uservoice, so you should go vote for it there! (community>feedback>uservoice)

I make my replay because it's a hot topic for me. I wouldn't implement a chat since there are will be too many players at the same time, so confusing. I would implement something like a "friends" tool, where you can add people, chat with them, pm, and see when they are online. That is strictly related with the idea of a clan tool as long as i'm interested to keep some tracking of the members of the clan. Otherwise, i'd just like the idea of a tool which would allow you to keep some contact with people that you are interested with.

I think an open chat (with different channels) would be fine, as not everyone would use it and it wouldn't get that crowded after the first week or so.

chat has been implemented twice in this game, once prior to my joining, and once after.. It was rarely ever actually used, so Fizzer removed it again.

Yeah, I remember going into that chat when I first arrived here and Fizzer was the only one there.

Cue tumbleweed and me making a swift exit.

I think it would be active though if it was implemented now.

I think I saw at one point 6 people in the chat.. although me and Fizzer were lurkers, and crafty had came in to get my attention..

I might be overexaggerating that number a little bit too..

I always thought it was very out of the way and that its position on the site contributed to its small number of users. I think it would work if it had a link to it on the dashboard (and I realise that there was no dashboard back then).

Chat is a bad idea actually !!!

When you launch a game where you deactivate in-game chat to prevent from alliances, an out-of-game chat would clearly ruin that ...
So if a public chat is set-up, option to deactivate private messaging will be completely useless !

disableing PMs is already useless. there are a million ways around it. for one, just set up a game with you and the person you want to talk to :P
