I don't think there's enough lasting credit for winning a tournament. Wouldn't it be good if we have a page in the wiki which was just a simple table showing

|>-Name of tournament
|>-Winner/s
|>-Runner/s Up
|>-Map/Template
|>-Date Started
|>-Date Finished
|>-Tournament creator
|>-Number of players/teams (if known)

Ideally sortable by any of those fields, but not sure that's possible in the wiki?

I'm sure we have enough gloriously anal people to create and keep up to date such a page? Ideally of course Fizzer would write something to just extract all this automagically, but I can't imagine that would be high on his priority list.

maybe if it were a quarterly tournament that fizzer hosted, but for all of the tournies it seems excessive

Didn't realise there had been quite that many! That does make it less plausible, without some sort of automated feed.

I'm interested to know how you see tournament numbers, and know they never started?

The numbers, like 1896, are the TournamentIDs you see in the tournament settings page of a tournament, they contain a link such as:
http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer.aspx?TournamentID=1896

I think the lower number of finished tournaments makes the job only easier, instead of 1900 you probably only need to do about 1000 tournaments :)

Ok, just sussed the numbering system: although there seem to implausibly large numbers cancelled/deleted looking at a random sample of numbers, so not sure there have really been as many tournaments as the indexing suggests.

So basically we just need some IT genius to scrape the tournament pages for first and second places...if only we knew a website which had say a couple of thousand geeks with plenty of time on their hands...
