1)When am drawing territories do i use pencil or lines
2) how do u make lines less straight because they are too straight
3) how come i can't find the union which makes territories have islands
i will post questions here later people feel free to ask your questions about map making on this thread.

1 Straight line tool is recommended.
2 Less straight? Do you mean a curve or something else?
3 Select the two you want to connect, then press CTRL + SHIFT + =

Ooh, you use the straight lines tool, draw whatever you want, and when you're finished you double-click the territory. Then you should see a network of lines and nodes. You can experiment with that, and the buttons below, but the easiest way is to click and drag one of the lines.

the ctrl shift didn't work

Are you sure you pressed first ctrl and shift and then the = key? It does work for me.
Otherwise press the fourth button from the top of the paths menu.

i have tried union and it didn't work anyone with any ideas on unioning

Well, I can't explain it. Are you sure you selected them both and then used that tool?

the grouping made the svg not load so i will avoid union

Grouping is something completely different, and the Warlight map editor hates it. So it's better never to group anything. I still have no idea of how this tool doesn't work for you, but you can try an alternative way.
Let's say you want to draw New Zealand from this picture:
Then first you draw it like this, with a sort of a bridge connecting the two:
Then you go into the mode I described earlier by double-clicking the territory, and click on any of the two sides of the "bridge". The two adjecting nodes should flash up yellow now:
Then you click this button, and the line between the two will disappear!
Do that to both sides:
After that, you have two territories with "holes" in them. Select the two nodes on both sides of the holes, and click the button left of the one already described:
And it will connect! Do that on both sides and your result is:

And: as soon as you have given it a proper ID, Warlight will treat it as a single territory!

Totally nothing? Is it all black and there's nothing to click?
