Kommenos made me realize some people might want to join a clan whose sole purpose is to help players become better. In real life I am a teacher, so this might be fun for me.
What I'd like to accomplish with [X]:
- I'd like to help as many people as possible become top players.
- If other top players want to join [X] to help less experienced players improve, that would be good too.
- If you become a top player in [X], you could then join [20], making [20] stronger.
Anyone can join. Add [X] to your name and invite me to a game if you want some help with something. If you want to play to win, joining [X] might be in your interest.

Actually it'd be nice if more people/clans took on new players and taught them. We take on less than stellar players every once in awhile in an effort to teach them. It's important to have a good team, without one games can get very irritating very quickly which will cause people can lose interest and stop playing. Teaching players helps get people more interested in the game which in-turn helps the game grow b/c they keep playing and inviting new players. Props to Gui if he does indeed follow through with this, which I assume he will.

Depending on how one classifies 20, this is the first or second. The other is a joke. Based on the EagleBlast system of clan classification, 20 is not a clan. I guess that system of clan classification has undergone some changes.
"Wear the tags": I guess it is a dog's world after all.
"Product": Providing advice or tips is not a tangible good.
You are welcome to join [X], Eagle. You could use some help for the ladders. If I could help a below average or mediocre player like you become an above-average or good player, that would be as good as getting a #1 rating on one of the ladders. Or are you just an old dog (wearing his tags as proof of his being domesticated) unable to learn new tricks?

Dazed, I intend to follow through. Though what one gains from my advice ultimately depends on the learner. I once told a good player 80% of my strategic philosophy for 3v3 Europe games. Instead of trying to digest my ideas, he simply wanted to point out his own, to show he does some things right. I considered that exchange a complete failure: that player has not used any of my ideas in his own game and has not improved as much as he could have since then. In contrast, I met Saladin when he had completed his 100th game. I could tell he had a good grasp of the game (Fatih, his roommate, had taught him a good deal) but could be even better. Over a period of about 2-3 months I played with and against Saladin many times. Each game we discussed strategy and moves in private chat. I told him about 25% of my ideas and he filled in the blanks on his own. Now he is a top 3 player on 3v3 Europe and one of the best overall players. I'd guess my ideas were equivalent to 500-1000 games of experience for him, whereas the ideas I gave the good player (first example) were only equivalent to about 5-10 games of experience!

Ok, myhand. But 3 is such a small number. How about as many as we want, and then I'll make a few RRs (1v1, 2v2, 3v3)? None of your HHH accounts can participate though! :(

Not really. I'd like to help more than 3, that's all. Are you referring to women? "3 is more than enough for me." lol

I only want to help players with [X] in their name. That shows a greater commitment, which I'll interpret as a greater willingness to learn. I want people I teach to eventually be able to challenge the best players.

Also, if you invite me to a game, please make it a practice game. I don't want to have 5000 games played any time soon.

Bad example? [20] is for tournaments and training. I told [20] players they could add the *tag* on the *line* called *tagline* or to their name. Many of the best players would refuse to participate in [20] if they were asked to change their name. The important thing is to have good players, not identical names. [X] is for apprentices. If I become myhand's apprentice, I will change my name to [X] Gui. Until then, I am not an apprentice to anyone. Asking an apprentice to change his name is for practical reasons:
- I want confirmation that they are serious about learning. Joining the clan is a sign of this.
- I want to keep track of the players I help (follow their games, to be able to offer suggestions/tips if I see them in games/tournaments). [X] on their name helps with this.
Eagle, with my help, I could get you to about 1650 on the 1v1 (your highest rating ever is 1394) and 1550 on the 2v2 ladder (your highest rating ever is 1321). Want to join [X]? We both know you could use the help.
[X] is like a gym for fat, out of shape people, or a weight room for athletes that want to be better. Eagle, you are obese. You could use a workout.

When I teach, I say: "Mian thinks this," "Impaller does this," "HHH does this," "BP said this," "zaeban does this," etc. Lesson #1 Eagle: There are many different styles of play that could lead to one being a good/great player. Or as Bruce Li said (paraphrase): "Not having any style at all is the most effective style: adapt to your enemy." He got that idea from Daoism: 无为有所为 (I'd translate this as "not being anything is [in essence] being everything").
The game is not about hyper-competitiveness. True. I am not especially competitive in all my games, only some. Though it seems you treat the forum as a place where you must be very competitive. It is odd you accept losing in the game, but on the game's forum you prefer being competitive. I like to have fun on both.
