I've spotted a few auto game players with high win rates (70s and 80s) and spectated several of their games hoping to learn something. What I instead so was the 2 of the 3 players i spectated were triple picking in most of their games. I found that surprising as triple picking is know as un-reliable and bad for later expansion. Anyone want to share any scenarios where triple picking is a good idea?

1) Local Deployment.
2) strat 1v1 with isolated small bonusses and unusual FTB of +5/+6
3) 3v3 teamgames with strategy of one hammer going late into the battlefield but with immense income, and two satellites covering the map and wasting opponents' time

Wierd, in the games I watched the player triple picked the Russias and scandinavia while caucuses and Europe did not have wastelands, and in the other game he triple picked greenland with all neighboring regions also open for the opponent to pick in...

if you tripple pick and your opponent is close and manage to break you, then its game over. can work, but can fail, with no mersy. though it depends on wastelands, expansion opportunities, opponents picks, and a little pinch of luck.

Yeah i thought that to, but the player I am talking about has a high win rate and appears to triple pick every singe game nomatter where the wastelands are.

he's doing it for fun or for "research" then.

triple picking will beat a noob 80% of the time. Thats why they get that win rate. It will beat a good player probably 20% of the time. Thats the power of playing auto games

Triple picks are highly underrated.

Pretty much what TWM said. High win rate does not necessarily mean good, as a lot of these players cherry pick their matchups. Top play on strat ME is on the ladder.
