|> *there is an update that kills an hour*
I have good news and bad news. The good news is that most updates from here on out won't cause any downtime. Thanks to the [backwards compatible messaging protocol](
http://blog.warlight.net/index.php/2012/02/backwards-compatible-protocol/), updating will usually only cause a few seconds of downtime and you probably won't even notice.
The bad news is that this particular update this weekend is an exception to this. Since I'm upgrading the database from Postgres 8 to Postgres 9, it will need to be down for longer than usual. I think I can get it done on Saturday, so your Sunday won't be impacted :)
I pick times for downtime based on when the fewest people are playing WarLight. This is around 1am on weekends.
