This 3v3 ladder game is asking for somebodies permission before starting.

It means that neither his primary nor secondary color are available, so the game is giving them a chance to choose their color.

Yep, as soon as they choose their color. If they don't choose it by the boot time, the game will give them a random color.

Wait, has that been changed? I always thought they'd be booted after three days if they weren't on vacation.

Why shouldn't they get booted? They would if they waited the same time without making picks, picking a color is far simpler. I see no reason to not boot.

Used to be every ladder and tournament game had a 'lobby' face before actually starting. People would be force joined (in mandatory games that is) when the regular but time expired.

That was removed when Fizzer realized it didn't make much sense.

But I guess this colour picking induced lobby is a remnant of that time, that's all.

Here's how it should work IMO:

No color lobby nonsense, the game auto-starts period. Before making picks you are asked to pick a color if necessary. You have to both choose a color and make your picks in the first three days or else you boot. That way such games are identical to any standard game to anyone except the person who has to choose an alternate color.

Why not just have it so that if your first and second color get taken, you are given a default 3rd color (or 4th, or 5th, or 6th) and just given a very visible popup, alerting you to this, and perhaps directions on how to switch it if you want. Seems simpler.

i think it's fine idc i like being able to pick my pick. i think it only goes 3 days before its auto-done. not the end of the world, at all

I think it's good to get time for an important decision like what colour you play with. I wouldn't know what to do if brown was already taken by someone else so give the man some time

If both players have the same colour, then how is it going to be decided who gets the colour?

My theory is, that the player who's WZ account is older, gets it, but is it true?

That is silly. How would booting someone be better than auto assigning a color? The point of a ladder game is to determine a winner based on skill. Color should have no impact on that.


How does a game like this show in your filter (game list)? Does it show as your turn (in red)? Maybe the person cannot even see the game while it is waiting for a color choice?

If I'm not mistaken it says (in red) "Wating for you to join".

Right, but does the game not show up at all under certain filters?

I use the default filter, but I am wondering if the person did not even see the game at all. Also, even if it shows, what is the order? It could be on the 2nd page (does it counts as 'your turn')? If so, the player may only look at the top where games they actually need to make moves in show.

My point is, without knowing how it shows up, it is hard to get on someone for not picking a color. Especially when all it really does is stall the game by 3 days. Certainly not boot worthy either way IMO
