It's come to my attention, that all you 'pro' players seem to waste a nice sized chunk of time complaining about newbs and how they're messing you up. Well, you see, the thing is, NO ONE IS TRAINING THEM. Maybe if you spent as much time training newbs and helping them as you do bitching and whining about them, they'd become good and they'd be 'up on your level' but No, instead all you do is sit there behind your scream and whine about how they are defending properly or not taking good bonuses. If you aren't going to do anything to help them get better, then why not just shut up? Simple solution; either train them so that thy become good and in turn train the next generation of newbs, or shut the hell up and deal with it because your complaining isn't doing anything to help.

There's a difference between "newbies" and "noobs" (although not everyone is very careful about the distinction). The way I know the terms, a newbie is someone who just joined; by definition, everyone was a newbie at some point in time. However, they want to learn and get better over time. A noob on the other hand is someone who has no interest in learning and will probably never become a good player.
As far as I can judge, it seems there's quite a few people willing to help newbies; helping noobs (according to the meaning I'm used to) is pointless by definition. So, show a willingness to learn and be fair about your skill level. Even if an experienced player is willing to teach people, they probably like a challenge every once in a while as well; if they start a game expecting a challenge (an equally skilled opponent), I can understand their disappointment and/or frustration if it suddenly becomes a teaching game. Going into a game with them *knowing* (and agreeing) it will be a teaching game will work much better.
Complaining about noobs is unfortunately just as pointless as complaining about trolls. Then again, I do understand the frustration and I cannot always stop myself from replying to trolls either.

"Judging by his tagline he is indeed a troll."
Judging by his tag- Are you f*cking serious? -.- Idiot. Judging by my tagline, I'm someone who remembers the original Duke Nuke'm games, back when they were actually good.
"If people rage at you in chat, just ignore them. If you're not on their level, just keep trying, pay attention to your team and even your enemies moves. Consider why they do whay they do, and soon you'll be just as good anybody who shouts at you. They're probably not all that special if they can't keep their temper in a risk game anyhow."
Thanks, I'll have to keep that in mind.
"judging by this wall of text you are a troll"
Judging by your lack of common sense, you are indeed a troll.
"In my experience, most pro's are willing to teach. there are threads designated for teaching, and many of them saying, 'send me a game invite, and I'll teach you.'"
I've never seen any of them, the only people I end up playing with are people who complain about people not being good but never do anything to help them get better.
"Complaining about noobs is unfortunately just as pointless as complaining about trolls. Then again, I do understand the frustration and I cannot always stop myself from replying to trolls either."

I'm part of this clan/group/whatever you want to call it, X.
It was set up by one of the better players.
It's been interesting.
Being part of it, I have played some good players and they have taken time to teach me what they know. I find that as long as you are respectable, people are and willing to spend time with you teaching what they know.
------
Though I am now trying to get into the 2v2, 3v3, etc... so if anyone wants to play a game with me there, please let me know!
Preferably multi-day for these games.

1) Actually, it makes you either a Die Hard fan, or someone who deserves playing DNF since he has no idea what "original" means anyway... ([source]( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ajk9-w6MMJE))
2) Calling someone an idiot is very poor manners. But worse, it's also very stupid and simply begging for ridicule if you happen to do it in the same line where you make a blunder yourself. Oops!
3) If the Die Hard films had never been made (and hence it wasn't a reference), it would be a very childish tag indeed. Since not everyone has the same taste (or, for that matter, is the same age), it's entirely possible not everyone will recognize the reference. That's the risk you take by choosing a semi-obscure tag.
---
Now, let's follow rosston's advice and be civil and respectable, shall we?

RvW, not to burst the bubble, but he was sandwiched first. People get upset over that.
Shadowling, it seems to me you should start playing 1v1 or FFAs first. Being in a team requires a lot more than an FFA. And an FFA requires more than a 1v1. Have you played the singleplayer levels? Then the challenges? Then do some 1v1s and watch the replay when you're done.

Duke Nukem 3d was such a bad game for the era.. I mean.. I played and beat it, but it was terrible compared to wolfenstein, doom, and that one medieval fantasy one which name currently escapes me..
the side scrolling Duke Nukem, I think, was awesome comparitively speaking.. although I am comparing it to SAM, commander keen, and other similar games which I can barely remember in my old age..

That's the Duke I grew up with.
Thanks Dark, if you can find me someone who would be willing to help me out too then we'd be good. I've beaten all the singleplayer levels except the last challenge level. I'm not even going to bother responding to RvW
