I was wondering that if anyone else thought it is a good idea to be able to search the map creator instead of the map name itself? Or at least be able to add tags to a map to make it easier to find. This could be useful if you typed in the map creators name and all the maps show up, because if a creator made one good map, he's probably made more. Or for example if you are searching for the famous "Rise Of Rome" but forgot the title, you could type in "Ancient Europe" or "Rome" to find it.

Just curious if anyone else thinks this is a good idea.

Despite the quickness to which Sharpe drags out unnecessarily colorful metaphors (on previous threads) he makes a solid point. Fizzer is only one coder (to the best of my knowledge) and he's got enough on his hand.

If you'd like to make a point of making the search easier you can 1. Make the code yourself and send it to Fizzer (there are legals issues with this though due to ownership, so maybe more trouble than it's worth) or 2. Uservoice, post link and ask players to vote.

You are being too harsh on him. He has an idea, and wants to know if anyone thinks it's a good idea. The Ctrl+F function only works for map titles and mapmaker names, so searching Ancient Europe would not bring up the Rise of Rome map.

And Hauptmann's reply is just silly. "Fizzer's got enough on his hand" is not an argument. He is checking if other people think his idea is a good one, he isn't forcing Fizzer to do his wishes.
And then Hauptmann gives advise and says it's worthless afterwards, and gives the only real piece of advise but fails to realise that the OP is just checking for any support of the idea probably still wants to flesh it out before there's going to be an Uservoice about it.

Fizzer being busy is a perfectly valid argument and a forewarning that he'll likely be unable to implement that change for a long time as it's not a priority (but like I said, this is just to the best of my knowledge).

I'm also letting him know that the change is so minor and that it's hardly worth the time to ask. Maybe in a year when he's caught up with his itinerary and has time to worry about minor things, but you can't expect him to make a note about it. That why he CONSTANTLY tells us to make a Uservoice and have players vote for it :P

If I tell him to make a Uservoice, I'm indirectly implying that the idea is perhaps interesting enough for others and should a link be provided players will decide for themselves if they think it's a good idea by voting for it, rather than just posting a "yes" or "no" on this thread.

Also, if my reply is silly yours is useless as you don't answer his question at all, Moros.

You are arguing whether or not Fizzer is able to implant this idea. The OP asked if it was a good idea. 'nuff said.

That being said, I like this idea a lot and would definitely use it on my maps. Like I said: The Ctrl+F function only works for map titles and mapmaker names, so searching Ancient Europe would not bring up the Rise of Rome map. That's why tags are a good idea.

I told him to make a uservoice and provide a link for it. 'nuff said :P

Most anybody that checks the forums regularly have already used up all their Uservoice votes. The best time to bring this back up is when an update in regards to a uservoice has been implemented, thereby freeing up large numbers of votes to dedicate to new things.

Just bump it once or twice a day for a week or so. Also, edit the link into the first post, most players won't bother looking for a link within a thread, even if it's only 10 posts long.

I suggested this once but the forum weren't too enthusiastic and sharpe said the same ctrl-f idea.
