Okay, here's the set-up:

Settings are to be decided by myself and the lucky member who gets to create this thing when the time comes, but will be fairly standard. No AI's. Suggestions will be considered.

The draft will be set up within a multi-day game with myself and the four generals as players. This way they can private-message me and I can announce the results in public chat. The draft will include the following:

|>-I will randomly draw the names of each of the generals to determine who is ABCD.
|>-The draft will take place in 4 rounds; ABCD, DCBA, BDAC, CADB.
|>-For each round, each general must submit to me only the maximum number of names necessary for that round. (For example, in round 1, Gen A submits one name, guaranteed to get the selected player. Gen D submits 4 names, in case the first three have already been chosen.)
|>-I will announce the results of each round as they take place.

**What I need now:**
Four generals to confirm interest and ability to do this.

Currently, the following people have expressed interest:

Ace Windu (perhaps not yet?)
ilpeggiore? (If you'd intended to join as an underling, I'll add you to the list. If you meant as a general, please don't take offense, as I don't know you, nor who you tend to play. If somebody could put a word in for you in regards to your playing ability I'd appreciate it. On the surface, none of your two-team records are terribly impressive.)

If I don't have 4 committed and obviously worthy generals by this Saturday (it's now Tuesday evening where I am), I will ask individuals that I personally deem the most worthy of the available.

The challenge has been placed before you, gentlepeople of Warlight. If you're one of the best, why not show us, teach us, and pit yourself against your rivals all in one go?

when you set up the game, can you create an extra spot for the generals? like a wasteland encircled area?

Cause i thought the idea was, that the generals arent playing. Maybe i misunderstood it though.

I had intended for them to play, since it was the easiest way to do it without No Fog. I also like the idea that if the general is eliminated, his influence would be greatly reduced.

If anyone can think of another way to do it, let me know.

Man, that is genius, wish I've seen that earlier, if there are free places, count me in (or for the next game of that).

I really like the idea of this. I'd like to be considered for a general spot.

Just a few comments from me. I think it's best iof the general makes the 6th player in each team. It would allow them to put in their orders last, so to make sure they';re happy with their team's individual orders before they finalise their own.

Always a fan of 16% luck, so would suggest that, and a member making the game.

Not a fan of private messaging in multiple team games, and I think with 4 large teams, assisting alliances between teams would be a bit chaotic and best avoided.

Anyway sounds great, and personally I'd quite like the idea of a strategic role, giving objectives for players, and only getting involved when I think mistakes are being made. So count me in, if you'll have me.

I'd also recommend every player is vetted for boot rates. With such a large group, it would only take a few people to ruin the game, by not playing and getting booted.

The general should be allowed to play, possibly to a lesser extent. I can see having them not play like mentioned above is pretty cool. It's like there actually a general and their sole purpose to is to strategize, they aren't going to be bothered by playing themselves. If they do play i agree that if they were to die, then they cannot speak anymore and someone else has to take control. maybe somone designated as second in command? that can be decided by team. Its good to see that this is still evolving

There's a draft now? reminds me of hockey, and i love hockey :)

For the draft, why have each general list the necessary number of players? Why not just do it like a typical fantasy draft and have each general announce his selection to the audience and then await their next turn? Seems to me you are overcomplicating matters by having them submit independently like that.

@Window Cleaner You're in, I'd be happy to have you as my general. With the current set-up, the general would be the 5th player for each team. +16% luck -No PM's The boot issue shouldn't be a problem, since not all players will be drafted by the generals.

@Richard Sharpe Time. Fantasy style would require waiting for 16 consecutive posts. This method requires only 4 (The wait for each general would take place simultaneously in each round). Also, any general finding submission of 1-4 names "overcomplicated" should probably not be a general. :-)

To those who would rather that the generals NOT be a player in the game, how do you suggest that this would work? I'm not keen on No/Light Fog, and it might be impractical for the generals to surrender before picks are made.

I disagree with Window Cleaner about private messaging, the ability to have teams allied with each other or in truce mode will be a valuable part of the game. However, only the generals could make those alliances or truces. When a general is killed, the rest of that general's troops should be free to defned themselves and form their own alliances as they see fit.

I think I qualify to be a general, and I'm interested. And Myhandisonfire is worth of general, i have played over 100 games with him :)
Acewindu is excellent in 1v1s, didn't play too much agasinst him in team games, so can't judge.

Vouch for myhand, aqua, and window cleaner if they needed one :P If those are 3 of your generals, this should be quite an epic game. Hope the fourth is as good. I'm not sure how Ace is in team games (he's great 1v1 player).

Window vs Ace vs Myhand vs Aqua would be good. I've played all of them in 1v1s, 2v2s and 3v3s before.

But I think there will be a mutiny on myhand's team (bc his expected moves will be too complicated for the soldiers to understand and explaining such moves takes too much time)! lol

I'm up for it, this should be fun :)
