How do you start peace when your territories are mixed together like that?

well easy blue goes north urfang goes south i have seen people who started in the same bonus turkey in europe map they went north and south and fought when they were last too one of them later got turkey

Maybe, maybe not. But on the second turn the fifth player got booted and on the fourteenth the fourth player as well.
You both knew pretty well the opponent had all their picks in one region, right? So after four or five turns, with you still dancing around each other, making no real progress (and no reason to expect any in the near future), you should have expected trouble.
Of course after the fourteenth turn, you don't know why dark green got booted, but being in a losing position and having lost interest in the game is far more likely than being in a winning position and having Internet connection issues, right? Either way, at that point the two of you are holed up in one little corner of the map and you're still messing around with each other, letting the only other remaining player claim pretty much the rest of the map. (Starting a truce at that moment would've been too late anyway, but not even trying is suicide.)

On a related note, it seems purple completely forgot to take Triest. :p
