Okay, i think this is racist to the community by blocking people under the "BLACKlist". I'm not african-american but i would like this to be changed to something like the "blocklist"

Blacklist is a verb, it is used across the world, nothing racist about it...

The one that always amazes me is how the peoples living in North America when Columbus arrived should not be called "Indians" (while incorrect, Columbus was a long way away from reaching India, to the best of my knowledge it's not derogatory) but "Native Americans", which nowadays is even more incorrect (well, in the sense that most people born on American soil are not "Native Americans"). Go read the US Constitution and check the requirements for a president: he should be a native American (think about *that* next Thanksgiving / Election Day).

The Dutch counterpart to Santa Claus has normal people (instead of elves) helping him. Because, in the course of their duties of delivering presents, they climb up and down chimneys all the time, they are always black, being covered in soot (a popular song even literally describes them as "black as soot"). Nevertheless, every year there's a (usually minor, luckily) controversy when a few people think this is a racist tradition... :s

I agree with Shipp.. treating something as racist, makes it racist..

X, Imho, African American should never be used... no matter your ethnicity, if you are an american citizen, you are an American.. if you are a citizen of a any country in africa, you are an african.. It's like a white person demanding to be called a European American.. which would be classified as a racist remark..

*note, American could in theory be used for canadian, mexican, puerto rican, and even Brazilian etc. Citizens.. since all reside on the Continent of 'America'*

I'm aware that punctuation and capitalisation can make a huge difference ([example](http://weknowmemes.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/stop-clubbing-baby-seals.jpg)); artificially adding to that mess (for instance making "Native American" mean something completely different than "native American"), especially if there's no good reason for it, seems like a bad idea to me.

Killer... too much of a risk of abuse. Personal vendettas could lead to undeservedly high blacklistings. There are people on this site who would be willing to create a bunch of fake accounts solely to blacklist someone and give them a scarlet letter.

Also, any of the jackasses who merit such punishment would simply create a new account instead of just sticking with the blacklisted account.

I find that Native Americans, are living in the past... we don't have Native Carthaginians, do we...? Native Byzantinians..? Native Czechoslovakians..? no... the title is depicted by the now.. Native Americans should be counted as anyone born on american soul.. those that call themselves Native Americans currently can purely boast having the longest bloodline remaining on the continent..

I speak this with three different types of indian in me.. My previous post supports this.. Americans are American.. America does not in and of it's own right have a culture, it encourages each subset to keep their own culture, be it american indian/native american, african, japanesse, etc. but you are an American...
