Team tournaments in particular

One little thing that really bugs me is when you are trying to get your buddies together and then someone else joins your team.

You then need to decline and join another team but then as all you buddies are on different time zones by the time they pick up the message and try to move teams someone else jumps in! grrrr!!

I would like to see some sort of option when setting up a tournament that allows people to reserve spots (people that dont like the option could opt not to implement it)

now i obviously realise that this could hold up the start of the tournament so maybe something along the lines of

up to 24hour reservations only
when under 20 spaces (or such like) remaining all reservations are unavailable.

With this in place it would be much easier to join the games and wouldnt hold up the tournament

what do you think?

Would this be solved more easily by allowing players to be invited directly to a team instead of just invited to a tourney?

I dont think that would work Muppet because its more about the time it takes for your team member to accept the invitation rather than not knowing which team to go to, if you know what i mean.

I was thinking it would be like when you create a game now and send an invite. The place is held on the team for them until they decline.

This is an issue that I would like to see fixed as well. Currently the only good method for doing it is to send out limited invitations to a few people who are already pre-planned teams, then send out general invites to everyone else. Then every pre-made team has a strong advantage, even over good players who attempt to put real teams together.

I purposely avoid joining team tournaments for this reason, as I know that getting a team into positin is going to be a headache, and that the people who created the tournament almost always had plenty of time to make sure they had a solid team.

some people dont accept or decline tournaments for ages after theyre invited (if at all), so that wouldnt really work, muppet.

i think it would work with the limits you described, general. but i dont think this is a big priority.

Theoretically there could be a distinction between being invited to a tournament and invited to a team. That is what I was thinking. The time limits could still be in place. One player could join Team X and then invite his friends to join the team. Players would be inserted into those slots just as in a normal game. If they don't respond in 24 or 48 hours, the slot reverts to an open seat.

@The Duke of Ben - although i dont avoid them i can see how others might because of how dificult it is to get people you regularly play with into a team

I think that could work, but what most people do is only invite friends to a tournament first and then open it to everyone in the invite list later

yes thats fine for the people creating the tournament but what about the 100s of people that want to play a tournament that didnt create it.

I see your point,i guess some kind of new feature like Muppet suggested would have to be added
