Hello everyone!
I've been playing this game for a while now but haven't been active on the forum very much, so most of you probably don't know me. I've been a member since October 2010 and have since played 3000+ games. I'm sure that most of you, just like me have found the game to be extremely addictive and time consuming. I've tried to quit a number of times and actually succeeded a couple of times, at least for a while. But, as u can see, I unfortunately always come back.
So, this time around, I'm not gonna quit. Instead, I'm gonna try to fit WL into my life w/o it consuming a large part of my day.
I think quite a few of us have this problem and it would be good if we could share tips and tricks about how we might go about managing our addiction.
I think playing real time games is what makes the game so addictive (and fun?) so I thought what if play only tournaments and multi-days games. Do you think that would help?
I considered joining a clan or creating my own clan to do this but another player suggested it would actually be counter productive, because in a clan i would play even more.
My ultimate goal is to reduce playing to a max of 30 mins a day. I would appreciate any advice.

Play multiday games with 3 day boot.
Limit to 10 games.
Don't feel compelled to move as soon as it is your turn. Set a specific time to play each day and don't go back after you enter the moves until that time next day.
Don't play the Big USA map, ever.

Yeah, playing MD instead of real time will help immensely. Also, as Amerla said, actively avoid playing in a game for which the turn just came up. If you have to, set a rule for yourself that you never play a turn the first time you see that you can, but instead wait until the next time you log in and play it then. This should have the added bonus of helping you notice alternate moves and make better decisions.
Set a good limit on the total number of games that you allow yourself to be in at a time as well. 10 does sound like a decent limit, so long as at least some of them are games that won't constantly have turns (large FFA or team games take longer to have turns). I would also recommend not joining more than 5 1v1 games at a time.

10 multidays seem quite small so i have a solution.
you should do this play x games and the largest amount you will see at once period will be 1/4 of x
