How DARE they enjoy the game as they see fit! Don't they know they have to conform to the rules of strangers and play games that those other people enjoy?? The nerve of them!

Medium Earth is arguably the most balanced map in the game and since it has been around for so long it's not surprising that it is so popular. After I began taking the ladder more seriously I began playing Strategic 1v1 much more. When you get the hang of it and beginning to beat good opponents it really does become fun. I used to hate the map but now it's my favorite.

trust me they can beat you on other maps =P
some people think they are good because they understand unbalanced maps like I don't know lets say EU 1600 AD a lot of people don't understand that map very well so its very easy to exploit other players on it and get a very high win %.
It is much harder to maintain win % on balanced maps which if you look at the top 50 players they do this. So yes they can and will beat you on any map. The concepts applied to 1v1 medium earth can be extrapolated to other maps.

The term youre looking for is medium earth specialists or "master race of warlight" and we win other stuff all the time. Infact we win just about everything, including all the seasonal ladders.

I like the rotating template idea! If you play the same map with the smae settings over and over, player will be very good at it just with already picking the right trritories and what other players will pick on that map. The main reason I don't join ladders is that I don't like to play the same map every time again. A tournament is the maximum amount of games on the same map I want to play.

The edge to knowing a map does plateau. There are only so many advantages and disadvantages to any given map I would venture to say that the top 100 know the map equally so what separates the top 25 vs the top 75-100. It is player skill. A small map like medium earth does not take very long to learn perhaps 10-15 games for the average player. It is all the battles in the middle where truly great players separate themselves from the pack.
Honestly I am not a huge fan of medium earth but if I am facing a strong opponent I find that way more fun than any other map in the game because of the challenge of facing a quality opponent.
