Hi, I have recently just made a [Uservoice suggestion](http://warlight.uservoice.com/forums/77051-warlight-features/suggestions/2838331-allowing-open-seats-for-testing-games) for allowing open seats in testing games. I feel this would be easy to implement and allows Real-time game testing. This would be great for me and many other map makers as it allows us to do more tests and test RT, as I play mostly RT.

Here is the description...
_____________
"Every map maker has the problem when they want to create a real-time test game. But because you can only invite people to play in Multipayer, you can't co-ordinate a real-time game.
Allowing open seats in test games would change this. You could test the map, find out what you wanted to know and change the map immediately, straight afterwards without having to wait multiple days to test it in Multiday games.
To distinguish the Test games from other Open Games, their Game Name could be highlighted Green with *TESTING GAME* written by the side"

I have yet to make a map but this is a great idea. I regularly create different game scenarios that i need to test. although i very rearly play RT games i always test scenarios in RT first. if i dont have time to play RT i dont join myself and then come back later to see what happened

The problem you get when testing in Multi day is you regularly see tweeks make them but are forced to keep playing old versions for days/weeks after knowing its not quite right.

Real time testing for Map makes is a must in my opinion.

As a workaround, you could post in the forums asking for interested people and add them on the fly.

I didn't vote for your suggestion, but that's because I currently don't have any votes. If Fizzer gives me some votes back (implement something I voted for) I'll come back to this. :)

Thanks General Mac and RvW! Another annoying thing is you cant change a map while it is being tested (If it is not public yet) Changing to development mode deletes all testing games ;/ So ongoing tests become painful to wait on.

I have done many real time test games, it's way more useful than multi-day.
Host a normal game and name it something like: "join here to test a new map"
then create your test game and directly add those players (that joined in the above game) from your invite list to the test game.
Some players still don't understand how it works, but eventually you get enough to get test games going.
So yes, any other way to simplify hosting test games would be appreciated.

And I hereby thank those who helped me out a lot joining test games and sharing feedback, you know who you are :)

I think the open seats aren't allowed for a reason: if you could create games with open seats, why publish a map at all? You could just create maps where you have a huge advantage and play a hundred games on it to boost your stats.

*Testing games should always be practice games NOT ranked. Also there could be a limit of games you can test and stats can be boosted anyway, regardless if the map is public or not.

Testing games can´t be ranked, whether you use open seats or not.

But regarding the actual suggestion: I agree, it´d help alot if you could use them

Also Moros, what would the person you were describing gain? And why would you care if he had good stats or not? I certainly wouldn't and he has just wasted 100 games of his life achieving fake stats...think about it.
Also, like Francisco Vile said, testing games are never ranked...Just saying :D

How about allowing Round robin Tournaments to be set up as well, on a practice scale.

The tournament chat could collect all of the comments/suggestions. And you'd have a list of games ongoing.

I thought you could do that, so I went ahead and tested it and right at the last menu I get an error messages which tells me I can't make an tournament on a testmap. Wouldn't it be just easier to just remove the testing maps option in the map selection menu when you are creating an tournament. It might save some people a bit of time... or just go for John's idea since that is a real solid idea and could really help getting more test games on a map faster.

But on a large round robin tournament there are around a hundred games, with all chat you need to analyse.

I think I would use it as a Tournament Template, with maybe 5-6 teams.

That way, if you make a map change, you can just change the version it references on the template, and you already have a pool of people ready to go, just need to click join.

Also, I think they could consolidate their overall comments about the map to the Tournament Chat window, not the individual games.
