The time 'ticker' needs to be on the main page... Also the surrenders could be displayed an other way, so you know they are happening.
When you play on silent it's a pain.

What exactly does your title have to do with the post?

I know its a bit confusing...
When the right column is 'not' pinned away would be correcter ;)

I play on a small screen and I need to hide it on larger map...

Then I cant see the timer or players that surrender...

I played a real time game to see what Major Lazer was talking about. No sound + No pinning does make a difference in how a game is played as a player cannot see any players who have surrendered, any PMs, or the timer without going over the pin button.
If a game has 'surrenders do not need to be accepted' on, a player with the above settings will only have a few other options to find out about the surrender of another player: Using a Gift/Spy/Diplomacy/Sanction Card, viewing the players screen, clicking on a territory that was owned by them, the nudge/boot screen, a chance that it is mentioned on the chat screen, and possibly the statistics screen.(Members only)
With the exception of clicking on a territory, none of them are viewable on the main screen without pinning. A possible change could be a message that states when a player has been defeated or removed from the game that looks similar to the design on the Confirm screen for income.(In other words: a box of text that quickly goes up the screen after the 'piece of cards earned' screen has disappeared)

Well, I tried what you said to get a feel of how it is like. Usually, I play with sound + pin, so I do not notice things like this. It explains why some it seems like some players do not accept surrenders, because they cannot see it. (Which does make me feel somewhat like a jerk)

I only notice last night as I had to be quiet and played on a bigger map than usual...
Im not quite sure where to put up this suggestion, the clock at least need to be on the 'main' page.
