When a player is being really rude to you either in a game or in PMs, what do you usually do? Do you ignore them, respond with a retort, or start forum threads about it? This question is being asked because some people are better at handling this problem than others.

In my case, I may at times ignore it, respond back, or write forum threads about it to know how other people handle these situations. >.>

Well that's true... but can you answer the question? I assume you're one of those who easily ignores it. :)

If it’s actual trash talk I usually just agree with them.

Ignore and report if it's insulting

I'm pretty petty, sometimes I'll carefully string them along, collecting as much salt from them as possible, then report it all.

Other times I'll just attempt "witty" retorts. I never ignore it because I'm a prideful cunt.

I have a damn good laugh at them...

Fight fire with fire.

Not saying it's the best solution, but it's certainly what I tend to do.

I decide to actually put effort into the game and beat them. People stop trash talking pretty fast when they are getting whupped.

I'll be honest, in the past I've got so much hate, insults, jokes in the game and elsewhere including online sites. IDGAF anymore. Lol, This is the internet, everything and everyone is behind a screen. It's not affecting my real life or how I live my life, not even worth putting energy into it. Sooo the hateful words quite often go from one ear and out from another.

I ignore it or trash talk back. I have been reported/warned a few times.

If I'm doing something wrong/playing bad sometimes I'll ask nicely for constructive criticism and often receive it.

I've done all of the above. My most common is to agree with them like Bane said. Something like "yup, we do suck, that's why we're facing each other" or "yup, that's why we're stuck at such a low level" etc. Just make sure I include them in their own insult.

I did create a forum post about one once but it was specific to stalling and I wanted to know at what point most people surrender vs continue a game if they think they're losing.

If I feel like I'm in a hurry I just ignore them.

I didn't think reporting people on this game actually did anything. I did it a few times but the options given made me think I was supposed to just get over it so I don't report people. Am I wrong? Does reporting actually do anything (I'm sure Fizzer has better things to do than settle our petty disputes).

Reporting does work. Mods get round to dealing with reports in their own time. Most people are warned for bad language. It's only if they carry on that they get suspended.

I track down their house and write down the names of all their immediate family members. Ordering a hit on a random person is actually really cheap.

Bane's approach is probably a lot more fun and I wish I could pull that off. Generally, it never hurts to block a toxic teammate and report after, just like a MOBA. You have a better chance of action here though lol

If a teammate is trashtalking me, I block them. Generally, no teammate that is gonna trash talk you is any good to begin with. Saves you a lot of scrolling and frustration. If your team sucks and they are blaming you too, then you can feel free to stop seriously trying to win.

If its a FFA, then if I'm winning I block them. If I'm probably going to lose, I poke the bear a little and throw literally everything at making them lose too - this is surprisingly fun. I don't hurl insults, unless you count mentioning sub-30% win rates, etc.. I don't bring that stuff up at all unless they are being a jerk.

If its a 1v1 opponent and its relatively light trashtalk (say, AlturoSensei), then I don't really mind, since thats basically banter. If an opponent is being a real jerk, I block them and make sure I put everything into either beating them or making them miserable. If they try to drag the game out and force me to eliminate them, I return the favor and surround their last territory with giant stacks so they can't move. Then they have to put in work to keep trolling me back, and usually they end up surrendering instead. :D

I think the whole system of mods does not work properly. How many times do you have to say f$%n idiot or s$%ck your ... to be banned? Is it just warning? Who cares about warning? In civilised society its even a criminal offence, and here only warning????

Same people use same language day to day, and dont care of any warnings. Even if banned after weeks of swearing, just create another account and continue. When you tell such person that you going to report, he is laughing and telling even more nice words. And openly says, do report, I dont care about warning or couple days of ban.

What WZ do you want mods?

I think its great fun. People who are labelled 'trolls', are usually intelligent peole with a sense of humour and irony trying have a laugh (and more than willing to take it too), and those who complain about them are usually insecure whingebags uncomfortable in the realm of irony who want to go tell the teacher. Im aware there are actual assholes who are just being assholes, but in my experience, there is no distinction drawn between the two, whereas there should be.
