Anyone want to organize games with spirits, the only prerequisite being that you have an ale, wine or something stronger while playing?
Peter the Great had his club. Warlight could have its. I sure some would enjoy the game more this way.

I'm in. I think organizing RT games for this would be better, as most people don't have the time to be drunk for 4-5 days straight.....

Does it have to be spirits? I'm from the part of the world where we usually drink beer (and live within cycling distance of Belgium, so I'm talking about /good/ beer!). Speaking of spirits, if anyone knows where in the Netherlands I can get some borovnicke, please let me know. ;)
Btw, is the idea to just play WL and drink at the same time, or should there be a connection between the two? Like a drinking game: drink a shot each time you lose a territory or something (note to self: using USA Big for this is probably a bad idea...).

Evreux mentioned ale, so I am sure some nice Belgian beers (Duvel, Rochefort, Erdinger, etc) would be just fine.

Gnull, just American, sorry. My only experience with proper European beers has been at my local bar in China, so I'm not really sure which of the beers are Belgian and which are from other places. SORRY!

Lol. No offense taken, John. FYI, Erdinger is Bavarian. I'm not from Bavaria (hate the place) so I don't care. ;)
I'm interested in this btw.

Oh and Erdinger tastes allright. But when it comes to Weizen, König Ludwig is unbeatable, esp. the dark one IMO.

My barman, an Austrian, laughed at me when I told him of my mistake. I truly DO appreciate the good European beers, I am just not always sure where they come from.

To make matters worse, there's a Dutch pilsener called "Bavaria"... :s

I'd love too, but unfortunately in American we have a drinking age of 21... If I lived in Germany I'd join you =).
If you'd like someone who isn't drunk to make a game for you [Kind of like a designated driver],I'm in.

Like any other pilsener, it's nothing special; "thirteen in a dozen" as the Dutch saying goes. Basically we've got five huge brands: Amstel, Bavaria, Dommelsch, Grolsch and Heineken (sorted alphabetically, in order to stay as objective as possible; first time I notice all of them are at the beginning of the alphabet). People will get up in arms over which one is better, but except that Heineken is crap (the stuff they sell here seems to be different (worse) than Heineken sold abroad), it doesn't really matter all that much.
Long story short: Dutch beer is just an emergency solution for when there's no Belgian beer around (or, when you've already finished all the Belgian beer :p ).

I do like Belgian beer. Leffe's brands were my beers of choice in France.
