I haven't been around for long enough to weigh in on a debate about something this fuzzy, but it seems to me that both sides are pretty evenly split down the middle, so I think it's definitely a job for the ethics panel. Don't let that stop the debate though. 😉

if Oterrycat broke a rule, he should be punished. Rules are not meant just to be broken over and over again.

Although Illuminati merged with 101st and now Illuminati doesn't play in Clan League. The question is: Does this count as a violation of the rules saying as of after the merger, Illuminati had almost no players, but now has a lot?

I doubt there is any punishment that will not favor the clans of Division B . Aren't the punishments supposed to favor the other clans in the division?I

You didn't really state that it was broken but needed to be more clear, which I agree with, but really didn't touch this rule, which i missed. Plus you gave me several other rules which were issues, that to this day, i am not sure how to fix.

I talked with the ethics panel much earlier to see if the rule was there, and I was told that it was. I had a lot on my plate, and it's not surprising that some things were missed, but I apologize for it happening.

its simple, ban ottery. his argument that we are asking for him to banned because it benefits our clans is simply not true. if the same thing happened in fcc, i would have vouched for him to be banned also. respect the rules or scrape CL and lets play MW's clan cup instead.

I feel that from the next season the first rule should read as a general principle that states that CL is an event where the clans are challenged to compete in a sportsmanship manner. Any other rule, especially if not 100% clear in the spirit, may be interpreted based on common sense. If any rule is found to be obsolete, it can be even deleted or modified.

@Let's fight!!, Yeah. I said that basically. Rules are not there just to be broken. If someone breaks a rule, punish them. What's the point of CL rules of people can get by with breaking them?

Warn or punish? Warn first I would do. If it happens again, punish.

Though, is this a minor infraction? If this could effect the other clan results if Otterycat beats them, it could effect all of Clan League.

To me it is. It's a misinterpretation of a small detail, of an already confusingly worded rule.

Otterycat last played CL for 101st in April of 2018, which has been a long time. There is also no guarantee Ottery's spot if played by another player would be better or worse than Ottery, and is a pretty poor argument. It can also be said that forcing 101st to surrender would give the clans Ottery is playing an unfair advantage as well. In the end of it this league can't be pushed into being 100% fair. Boots, mistakes, variations in level of play and substitutions alone make sure of that.

I won't be the one making this decision as it is up to the ethics panel to decide, I'm just stating my opinions on the matter.

If you're not making the decision, you should probably not be putting out your opinion publicly. It somewhat undermines the ethics panel, and somewhat invalidates their reason for existing, which is to insulate the organizers from the drama of inevitably unpopular decisions. Just my 2c.

the ethics panel is to make the decision. The players not on the ethics panel are not doing any harm. It is better to see both sides of it than just one side.

@Viking I think Beren was specifically talking about Cowboy since he is organizer of the event and has a position of authority. The rest of us are free to say whatever and have it be ignored by the panel.

Whether or not a season had CLOT or not shouldn't be a factor in the panel deciding this. It should be completely based on competitive balance and what the rule was intended to do, which is to prevent someone from hopping around to undermine the promotion/relegation process.

And i agree with Beren. Don't weigh in Cowboy. Just provide facts and context and let the panel decide.
