szewen, i invited you to a 1v1 RR with [x] players. here's my challenge: beat all the current and former [x] players and i'll retire before you do.
I'm reasonably certain that people don't even
want you to retire; as near as I can tell they just want you to be a little more friendly. For instance, even after you did a fair bit of yelling at szeweningen, all his replies remained reasonably polite.
Now, I can't look inside szeweningen's head, so I can't be absolutely certain of his motivations, but his explanation for which games he chose to use as "lecture material" sound plausible. Some of his motivations (such as the live video) you couldn't have known about, but it was
you who chose to use a (public) forum like this to have the argument; had you asked him in private he could've told you without this public mud-throwing fight.
Let me summarize:
- We've never played a game together, but if you held the top spot on the ladder, you must be a very good player.
- You've made some very nice maps (I especially like "Greater Middle East", "France: villes et capitales" and "Ancient Greece & Maritime Trade").
- Those two things make you a very valuable WL player.
- Unfortunately, when you're annoyed with someone you seem to like picking fights; a truly great player isn't just good in the game, he's also a decent sportsman. On that count I think you can still learn one or two things (either from szeweningen or someone else). I'm just hoping you want to learn...
