On the other side (primarily Baptist), you have those who emphasize knowledge at the expense of living by the Holy Spirit to overcome known sin and be conformed to Christ.
Not 100% true - maybe some conservative Baptists, but I go to a Baptist church and I think we have a very good balance. I guess it's a spectrum. As one of my good friends put it, we Baptists have the conservative theology of the Lutherans, and the worship practises of the Pentecostals. Best of both worlds. ;)
Right now I'm reading a great book by a Lutheran pastor who stood up to Hitler and ended up being martyred, called The Cost of Discipleship, in which he addresses things like this.
Bonhoeffer is a legend, I haven't actually read any of his books, but I read Eric Metaxas' biography of him (which is a great read btw) and he is one awesome guy.
