Yes, you did the most.., but your teammate didn`t start nearby an enemy, so he did what was smart, expand. You have had a higher income than the other team since the start. Even if you got into trouble. Poop would be there in a few turns, if you moved towards him. You did everything just because you had bad luck. I do not say that you played bad. You played very well, but you can`t say anything about poop just because he started away from the enemy`s.
Actually, it's pretty good to start a 2v1 battle early on. They spend more income on you than you'll need to defend with, and you can just escape/troll their territories while your ally builds up income. I think this is somewhat of a bad point for Warlight. If you 2v1 early on in a 2v2 game, you shouldn't be the loser (while for me that is often the case, regardless of the team I'm on). But, since that's the case, it's a good strategy. In this particular game, he may not have attacked the opponents (he couldn't reach them), but would have finished off the opponents if they got the upper hand over you. One of them got booted, so it might have actually been a bit problematic later on.
Yeah, I have been in some 3v3s where I am in the middle of all 3 of the other people. All I do is deny them bonuses, play defense and stall. When my teammates finally get there, they have twice the income or more than their entire team. He couldn't have helped really, and if you started to get pushed back he would have eventually came in to save you with his mass of armies.
You can't follow this strategy on narrow maps because your moves are very predictable(Roman Empire). If your enemies are half-decent, they'll eliminate you in no time on any map. (considering your picks are in the same region).
