on some of the games I play the order movement is proactively shared by warzone
a button above the history button exists
but I cannot find where this is set for games I create
maybe I am just being blind
(other times I can do my best to work it out from the move orders and history)

Most games have a random move order, in such case the move order is determent at turn advancement.

The setting you are looking for is the Move Order setting. For more information see: https://www.warzone.com/wiki/Move_order

Move order is only shown on games which are Cyclic No Luck, aka PureSkill.

There are three move-order settings in warzone:

1) No-luck Cyclic: the move order is shown to all the players. The player who got last move on turn n, gets first move on turn n+1.

2) Cyclic: the move order works the same as with No-Luck Cyclic, but the move order is not revealed to you or other players. In this case, you have to figure out what the move order is, given the move orders you have seen over the past turns.

3) Random: the move order is not revealed to you or other players and is randomized each turn.

You can read more at https://www.warzone.com/wiki/Move_Order

No-Luck Cyclic is not Pure Skill. Pure Skill requires a game to have No-Luck Cyclic move order, 0% luck modifier and straight round rounding mode.

Sure, but when have you seen people use no luck cyclic without it being "PureSkill"? Not that it matters anymore, PureSkill is now just a random title since coins can be bet on any game.

What I am after is cyclic but having the first go random but then also having the move order shown after that
Is there a trick I can use to achieve this

As opposed to rush or even delay a first order set as long as possible as with no luck cyclic

I remember some Guiroma 16% SR games with NLC

go to the game tab, then, if the settings are correct, you can see "move order" .

some games you just have to figure out

some games are random

you can figure it out by seeing who moves first when you touch your opponent.

you can figure it out before seeing your opponent too through picks (if you don't get your 1 for example). deployments also follow the order

The only way to have anything resembling that is to play without fog, in which case move order is apparent since you can see every action on previous turns.

Honestly though, if you know what to look for, it's very easy to determine move order in a typical game that has cyclic move order.

Examples from my recent ladder games:

https://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=20539708 Turn 3 Azazel moves an army first order.

https://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=20591307 Turn 2 Israel moves between my first two orders.

https://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=20539709 Turn 4 Buffo moves in East US after my second order.

https://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=20419159 Turn 4 Purple deploys in Central America between my first two orders.

https://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=20431003 Turn 1 kwekan attacks Scott between my first two orders. Also I lost my first pick, so in this case I actually knew before even making my orders turn 1.

Note how in all 5 of my recently finished games I knew who had first order every turn for the rest of the game as early as turn 4, if not earlier. There are a lot of tells a good player can look for that give them this information. Learning them is an important strategy.

I agree with the last bit and that it is not just the orders but also the tells
And I quite enjoy the process
And even giving a casual probability to a tell move
But
I am playing with friends who are more time poor and trying to get them into the game
And want it to be head skill rather than rules knowledge or time spent on move order deduction
It would be better in game but I think what we can do is play no luck cyclic and manually off game determine
