Hey all, I'd like to get a tutor....... I'll use whatever ever methods you want to teach me but I prefer a non mathematical approach but more of a game theory approach. Also before you do any sorts of tutoring I'd like to play you in strategic 1vs1. I'm decent but everyone has room for improvement.
Requirements: I don't really care someone who MIGHT be better than me or someone who has experience with tutoring. So maybe your good at playing but maybe not good at relaying on what you have learned.
I've had 2 tutors in the past the first one I crushed in a test game and he said I didn't need one. The other was a long while back and I can't remember anything so
how about a tutoring contest each !tutor! takes apupil and teaches him how to play 1 vs 1 after lets say 3 weeks all pupils start in a tournament against each other ,,,,, how to confirm that the pupils are really their own bad players and not soem second accounts i dont know...
Meh, some math is inevitable in Warlight. But there are viable approaches to become a better player other than numbercrunching analyses of every turn. I was never so fond of Sze style analysis, and I'd say I got quite far without it.
I have to agree with Veelvraat here. I am honestly not that great at number crunching its just not what I excel at. There are different ways to approach games like this if math was the flat out most important value AI's would be unbeatable.
the problem isn't that he doesn't want a maths approach, the problem is that he wants a "game theory" approach without realizing that it is the same thing. Game theory is about maths, nothing else
125ch - can't agree with you in 100%. Math of course is important in WL, but as some ppl mentioned, it's also predicting your enemy. For example in my last 15 ladder games about half was won on picks, because I've predicted enemy tactic and countered it perfectly.
From the other hand, on 0% straight you should be able to calculate what EXACTLY your enemy just did, and draw conclusion about where he is and how much income does he have.
Or perhaps The Cro doesn't know what game theory means, and he actually meant that he wants to learn about strategy without interference of math, which is perfectly possible.
