Multi day boots versus real time boots are different beasts.

Reasons I might boot a real time game:

1) I forgot I joined it.
2) My roommates demanded my attention.
3) I got an important phone call.
4) Someone came to the door.

Reasons I might boot a multi-day game:

1) Vacations aren't enabled and I didn't think I'd still be playing this particular tournament/game when I go into an internet dead zone.

I think it would be helpful to distinguish multi-day boot rate from real time boot rate. I don't boot very much by any measure but 45 of my 46 boots are from real time games.

True story!

I've been booted from a couple RT games that I didn't even know until I happened to search through my 'Past Games' section. It was part of an RT round robin tournament I had joined and I didn't realize it had started. When I finally realized it had started, I had already been booted from 1 game so it never showed up in my list of games to play, so I had no idea I had even been booted.

I don't really see the point of this thread.... but this happens to me!

The point is the get 'boot rate' stats separated for RT vs MD.

B/c it's totally possible that the last 100 RT games are 75% boot rate, and last 100 MD games are 0%.

And if someone is good at staying by the PC finishing games but terrible at planning vacations, etc, these stats could be reversed (but less likely).

Maybe also base the percentages on turns instead of games? I think it would be more accurate

Let's suppose that Player A mostly plays large games that last very long, and B mostly plays quick 1v1 games.
Let's also suppose that A and B have equal likelihood of being booted.
Then, with the current bootrate calculation, A will likely have a higher boot rate than B (which is unfair).

With a bootrate based on turns, A and B would roughly have the same bootrate (which is more fair).

So it would look like:

Booted 67 times from real-time game (1.4% of their last 1000 turns in real-time)
Booted 2 times from multi-day game (0% of their last 1000 turns in multi-day)

Thats funny, I'm the reverse guy...

I like that Overt!

Would that calculate games they are booted from that run on longer as well? I.E. a game they were booted from on turn 3, with final game turn 30 hurting worse than a game they were booted on turn 103 with a final game turn of 130?

I think the median of the turn a player got booted in gives bettee information than the percentage turns booted

Oh, ok. I understand this thread now. This, in truth, would be a very nice new implementation!
I hope this may get added! Nice idea.

@soldier. so a player that occasionally boots on picks would have a worse bootrate than a player who very often boots after a few turns?

What do you mean? How would it give better information?
