OK, I've simply cancelled their team's results, so that your team and Britain and Ireland 2 automatically qualify as the two teams left in the group. So we don't need to worry about how to score the incomplete games.
After another week we now know 15 of the 16 teams that will be competing in the next round, and three matchups have been determined. Norway will take on France 1, USA West will face Serbia, and the Baltic States will square off against Brazil - the captains of those teams should get the matches started as soon as possible. Here are the matches we're waiting on to finalize the rest of the bracket:
1. The winner of the 7v7 game between Poland 2 and Netherlands and Flanders 2 will finish third in group A and qualify to play Netherlands and Flanders 1.
2. In group D, Britain & Ireland 1 must win all of their outstanding games against France 2 and Italy to finish ahead of the latter team, since they would be tied on points but have the edge in the head-to-head matchup. But The Window Cleaner is in all but one of those games and appears to have gone on vacation till the end of September, and the adjudication will include a penalty for slow play... in any case, the winner of group D draws Britain & Ireland 2 in the round of 16 while the second-place finisher meets Germany. (I'm sorry teams from the same country might end up facing each other so soon - I was focused on making sure teams from the same group would meet each other as late as possible.)
3. US East 1, the leader of group G, has restarted its 3v3 and 7v7 games against Israel now that both teams have retooled their lineups. Having won the 1v1 and 2v2 games by a 4-2 score, Israel is only two points behind - can they complete the comeback? A match against USA Central 1 awaits the winner of group G while the runner-up will lock horns with Team Canada.
Again, all games not finished by September 30 will be adjudicated at that time (see my last post in this thread for details) and we will start the round of 16 on October 1. For teams who are waiting for their opponents to become known, please make sure your players are still available during the fall and be aware that
vacations will no longer be honoured. We know many teams have had issues finding seven active players so we've introduced the option of playing a 5v5 instead of a 7v7 - there's a 5v5 template available (
http://warlight.net/MultiPlayer.aspx?TemplateID=212677) that gives the same number of cards as the 7v7 but gives each player an extra start. However teams may stick to a 7v7 game if both sides agree to it.
