We have worked out some of the details of the Warlight Olympics...There will be 5 events:

Event 1: 3 players from each country will play 1v1...They will play a game against each of the opposing country's 3 players and the country with 5 wins advances...All games will be on Medium Earth in this event. Up to 3 games will be going on at a time.

Event 2: A best of 5 series for 1v1...5/7 of the following maps will be used: China: Warring States, Huruey's Castle, Medium Earth, Imperium Romanum, East Asia & Oceania, Europe, and Ancient Greece...Each person can pick one map they don't want to play on and so that will leave them to play on the five that are left...Each country is allowed 2 players to participate in this event. 2 games will be going on at a time.

Event 3: A best of 3 game series for 2v2 on the East Asia & Oceania Map...Each country is allowed two teams in this event. Only one game will be going on at a time.

Event 4: A best of 3 game series for 3v3 on the Europe Map...Each county is allowed one team to compete. Only one game will be going on at a time.

Event 5: One game on East Asia for 5v5...Each country is allowed one team for this event.

Teams will be ranked by a panel of judges in each event so that the two best players/teams don't end up having to play each other early on in the tournament. Each event will be single elimination, so once you lose once you're out...Anybody interested in judging should invite me to a game.

Ranks the players...The top guy gets first ranking and so on until everyone has a ranking...it sets up the games for each round then instead of completely random games...They need to be at least good players though so that we can get more accurate rankings.

It depends on how many want to...I'll contact some great players like dunga and see if they would want to help judge.

Minor issue with "Event 2", what happens when both people eliminate the same map? Suggestion: tournament management (read: you ;) ) throws a dice and randomly removes a second map.

one person could chose first then the second person would chose afterwards to eliminate any chance of this happening

I know, but that would give a (small) advantage to the second player. Scenario: both hate map A, so they want to vote it out. One player's really, really dislikes map B (his favourite map is C), the other really, really dislikes map C (his favourite map is B). See the problem? That's why I suggested eliminating a second map randomly (by an impartial person, who both players can trust to really select one randomly), to ensure neither player has an advantage if they happen to select the same map for exclusion.
It's not crucial or anything, just a rule you want to have clear before the situation occurs.

RvW, Good idea. That will be the case if both players pick the same map they don't like.

Heyheuhei, Some of them will take a while but some of them will move quickly. It depends on who you get matched up against.

Mylor, I'll invite the judges to a game once all the teams are decided and we will work together on each event to rank the competitors.
