Thought it would be useful to have a thread if anything escalates further. Also, if anyone in the US wants to share anything to people in other countries.
It would be great if US politics would stop involving race so much. Also, looting doesn't help anyone in this situation.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqHGFlOY82w In Alberta, moronic cops arrested a 19 year old woman dressed as a stormtrooper for having a plastic gun, should we riot over that?
Lol. Not much violence near here save for one unrelated thing. A man has been wielding a 12 foot long stick and will whack anyone who gets within 6 feet of him. He will not move out of the way, and he whacks people if they don't move or don't move 6 feet away. Not making this up btw.
Tbh in most cities the riots/protests aren't a big deal. So far he entire impact of this on my life has been:
* Getting Juneteenth off * Getting a BLM email from every company with my email address * Having to exit the freeway early one time because about 100-150 people were blocking a small portion of it (cost me ~6min of my life, as opposed to 6h-6mos of court+possibly prison time if I'd decided to go for the vehicular manslaughter route)
It's really just a few cities (Minneapolis, Atlanta, etc.) that seem to have bona fide riots and even in those cities it seems to be small parts of the cities with actual issues. Otherwise looks like the country is dotted with small-scale protests and the occasional tear gas or rubber bullets from cops who don't seem to realize they're proving the protesters' point.
Tbh I feel safer about this ordeal than I do about getting pulled over by a cop trained to treat every civilian interaction as a life-or-death shoot-if-you-see-a-toy-gun scenario. If all it takes is a few burnt down Autozones to fix America's police state problem, sounds like a good deal.
