Haha, thanks. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like my landlord will actually be suing me. It would be a loss for him most likely, and he takes pride of never losing a court case.

Sounds like good news (ish), Farah! Glad you got out of it without having to fork out too much, either to the landlord or the lawyer!

But you can sue him. Show him who's boss. He tried to steal from you. Strike back ten times harder.

God, I really wish he would lose everything for being a garbage of human being and go to gulag. I really, really do.

In moments like this I wish the inquisition returns. There really isn't justice for criminals nowadays

i mean fraud is one of the biggest crimes right? (like after Rape;Murder) So you should sue your landlord just on the basis that he is committing fraud i think the government would really love to hear that.

(there are different types of fraud but I only know one which is tax evasion which seems what he is committing)

Never Fuck With Your Tax Never

@goralgn: Typically, individuals can't sue one another for murder or other crimes. Those charges come from the Crown or State, so Farah would probably have to go to the cops and try to get the authorities to go after Farah's landlord... Seems like a long-shot. For stuff like tax evasion, there might be avenues to report to your national or regional tax collection agencies.

Also, friendly reminder to only use respectful language in this thread!

As someone who also lives in the netherlands and has had his fair share of bureaucratic bullsh** this story is greatly amusing to me as well xD
If there's anything that the dutch like it's their money and tax evasion/fraud is a very serious thing especially in the housing market since there's almost nothing available there.

From personal experience i can say 1. be polite in all interactions especially written, better yet you could do a phone call and state you'll record the call for legal reasons just to see their reaction (and confirmation that you have their permission then ask varied questions about the official information you can ask both the landlord and administration for statements and have an official instance follow up on this to see if it's the same).
2. Anything on paper (or online in mail) written statements are gold, just make logs of it or screenshots of things and stack them somewhere to make a case, anyone who isn't truthful especially in situations like these tend to make A LOT of mistakes dragging themselves deeper into the sh**. 3. Involve official instances (like your lawyer) they will probably love a case like this if you have sufficient paperwork and evidence and can roast the landlord as well as hire/assign official impartial 3rd party instances to confirm things (for example the meters, if he were to mess with the meter it would be even worse than lying about it)

As someone who successfully handled 3 cases in different context/type against official instances i can confirm that it's extremely annoying and time consuming but in the end definitely worth it when you're consistent with logs xD (I'm just a student but scientific writing with official mails while being polite people often mistake me for being gullible lol)
Good luck! will be checking this forum for more updates xD

I think this topic has come to an end; my landlord isn't actually suing me, as he'll most likely just lose or get outed as a scammer. By the time I can go after him, this thread will probably be locked by lack of responses. If anything major happens and this thread is still open, I'll update it. If not, I'll see if it's worth it to start a new thread. Your responses have all been real funny, and I thank everyone for their support :)

In ancient Egypt there was a young girl with black hair named Farah. Being 12 years old she caught the eyes of many men. At night she used to leave her home, unbeknownst to the parents.

The rumours say the whole village had her and she was shared among all men.

That is Farah's rental story.
