Stop the fighting

Hi all

The last two weeks I have started playing Warzone again after a break of several years and there's something that seems to have changed over the years: most players don't say 'GG' of 'well played' (or any other polite chat) anymore after the game has ended. Also a lot of players surrender by letting themselves be booted in stead of surrendering with the surrender button.

Am I imagining this, or have other players noticed the same phenomenon?

Nonetheless I'm happy to be playing again and wish you all a nice day! :)

Kind regards

Thomas

I've been away a lot recently as well. I can't speak to the lower level playerbases. Generally, the higher skill/level the players are, the nicer they are. I think it's mostly that low level/skill players are generally lower maturity. .-.

I wouldn't put too much weight in there. If you play with random players, you also get random feedback. I just forget it sometimes. Sometimes I don't have time, but I have already looked at the result on my cell phone. Once I am out of the game, I can no longer find myself in it, unless it is close to my heart. (I miss a button that loads the last game again ... I get out of a game far too quickly.)
If someone then writes the GG, I look briefly to see if I wrote it, and then put it back after.
What annoys me the most is games where the other side announces that it will intentionally take advantage of the boot time. I realize that everyone can play as they see fit, but that annoys me.

Thanks and gg <3

Nearly every game I’ve played in recently people are polite enough and say gg etc. People surrendering by getting booted is probably more true.

I write GG in real time games.

And I'll write GG if it's soon after a MD game ends, but I myself am not a fan of seeing I have a message waiting in a finished MD game that I've already seen the final move of, already replayed through the history, rated the map if necessary, etc ... just to find that it's just a "gg" on a game I'm already thoroughly done with.

Sometimes I've already written "gg" myself but don't remember, so write "gg" again, then sometimes the opponent also writes "gg" back again. LOL

So sometimes I just don't bother, it's not really worth having it show up in someone's list again just to see a "gg" message.

I think there is a bit of a change that way, but I find it is largely the quickmatch culture - the idea of getting quick games in for points or practice. I'm often seeing no gg at the end of a game as well (maybe 50-50), but I find this is mostly the case with quickmatch - I find that people are more likely to do it in a multi-day setting.
Personally, I always say gg (unless I'm in a real hurry) and well played (if that's true). I also think there is a correlation between level/skill and politeness that way - players who have been around longer are more invested in the community and are therefore politer than your average quickmatch-only player.

If there is no chat, I don't usually say gg or anything. If we were active on chat during the game, then I always say gg.
I don't like using chat just to say gg.
Like Ender says, "if ur only conversation is hi and gg pls leave it".

I usually say "gg" ... Most people will say "gg" but most often not "wp" since, well, you know how I play ;)

I find, actually, players say "gg" more often when it is a MD game, rather than a RT game

Whenever I finish a game I say 'gg'. My opponents almost always reply 'gg'. Then again I play 1v1 only on my clan's ladder and the 1v1 ladder. So my opponents are either high level or my clanmates.

I noticed that in quickmatch games there is rarely chat, but in ladder games etc when i say "gg" players often reply

LND brings up a good point.

Actually, I find its less common to find friendly people in many games, not just Warlight. :(

Agreed that ladder players tend to be more likely to respond. I think a lot of the players in active clans tend to be more talkative too - probably being peeps that are more interested to interact with the community.

It sucks to be friendly/helpful and find yourself shouting into a void most of the time. feelsbadman

In general, if I win a game I only type gg if my opponent typed it first. If I lose a game I'll usually put gg, but sometimes forget. If it was legitimately great game I'll usually write a sentence about the game.

Why is everybody so nice? When I play League of Legends flaming and toxic behaviour is much more common. I kinda miss it. It's pretty entertaining

People aren't actually nicer here. In League, everyone is acutely aware of eachother's actions, and can be adversely affected. You spend 30 minutes directly faced with the consequences.

Warzone works a little different, dynamic wise. Team games can be toxic here too. I've blocked a fair few people who either are immediately toxic, or insist on rather stupendous orders. Lots of people are not interested in friendly advice, even if it helps them win their immediate game. So not much point in communicating unless you agreed to such beforehand.

And before you ask, no, I don't approach advice as an elitist jerk. People are mean to pleasant people too.

Like Ender says, "if ur only conversation is hi and gg pls leave it".

But a friendly "hi" can open up the door for a conversation, no? Anyhow, when we discuss games from our clanmates in our clan forums, missing chat usually gives a big minus. In chess if you refuse to shake hands this can lead to you immediately forfeiting the game. As far as I'm concerned, in WarLight the guy who creates the game sits on a table and waits for someone to join. Just taking your seat, making your moves and afterwards leaving without the slightest bit of recognition seems like a very rude thing for me to do. I have created a couple of WarLight bots and am relatively sure that at least with my multiattack bot I could make it strong enough to give very strong players a challenge. If you refuse any chat then why not just play against sophisticated bots?

i see gg as a way of telling the game is over.... before i did not notice games ending because they just disappeared from the dashboard. After that has changed the need for gg is less than it was before imo as it is now just pleasantry instead of it having a funktion

I am 100% with Norman on this. To me, its still a social game. Or can be. "Gl, HF" and "gg" are an invitation to a conversation. It just so happens that many players give the silent treatment, here or elsewhere.
