PLEASE NOTE: The following is how a new gametype I have created is played. I have posted it here because it is too long in the description, and instead I can offer the link to this forum to show people how to play. Basically, I don't expect people to reply and such, only reply if you have positive comments, suggestions, or want me to set this game up with you. PLEASE, if you copy my gametype, and reproduce the rules and such, I ask that you DO NOT take credit for the creation, and put in somewhere that Soviet Russia Buddy, (Or if I should change my name, that would be updated) created the rules and thought up the initial process, etc. If you were to reproduce this game and take credit for it, that is, by law in The United States of America, copyright and infringement. While I'm not going to sue you or anything, as it is only a game, doing that is lawfully, and morally wrong, and it also makes me sad to see someone take credit for my work. (It happens a lot to me) Thank you
ALSO, IF YOU ARE A MEMBER, AND ARE WILLING TO JOIN SKYPE/COMMUNICATE WITH ME TO START 12P GAMES IN THIS FORMAT, CONTACT ME VIA THIS PAGE. THE GAME IS USUALLY PLAYED BY 6P FFA, AND HAVING MORE PEOPLE WOULD CREATE A LOT MORE FUN FOR EVERYONE.

GAME RULES AND GUIDELINES. THOSE WHO ARE CURRENTLY IN GAME, READ BELOW THIS LINE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I WILL NOT START THE GAME TILL EVERYONE HAS READ AND UNDERSTANDS THESE GUIDELINES, AND TELLS ME IN PUBLIC CHAT THAT THEY KNOW THEM! ALSO, IF YOUR ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE TOO LAZY TO READ, OR DON'T SPEAK ENOUGH ENGLISH TO UNDERSTAND, LEAVE NOW: The gametype you are about to play requires much more strategy, teamwork, and help from others than any other game. While it is a FFA, players are encouraged to make treaties with other players, but still this game is different. Here are the guidelines and rules you must follow or face the consequences. Each player will start in a country or area of a country supplying a single bonus etc. Players are only allowed to attack nuetral territories, and may only attack another player if both players agree. However, should you attack without permission, it is considered an official act of war, and both players may attack eachother freely till one is eliminated or a treaty is called. HOWEVER, if you wish to open war with another, in the public chat, you must say "I declare war on (name here)". While you can attack without declaring war, I call this the Blitzkrieg, all the other countries will come and attack you. This is where alliances with other players come in. If a player goes to war with another, for example, player 1 attacks player 2, and if player 1 is in an alliance with player 3, and possibly 4, etc, then player 3 is forced to attack player 2 alongside player 1. BUT, know this, when you go to war, you don't have to get the enemy to surrender or conquer all their territory, you can end the war by calling a cease-fire if you wish to keep this person around, or you cannot fight two wars at once, etc. For example. Lets say PLAYER 1 goes to war with PLAYER 2 and PLAYER 2 is in USA. Player one could, lets say, take half of the US, then call a cease-fire to the war, and you two will be at peace again, as well as these rules are aligned with the CAPITAL rules coming up. As an addition, a good way to stay in an alliance is to use gift cards to give troops to an ally. ALSO! At the beginning of turn 1, the first territory you pick is known as your CAPITAL. That territory will be your capital and you cannot change it unless there is a complication. If your at war with someone and they CAPTURE YOUR CAPITAL and hold it for 2 TURNS, you must pick a new capital. If the same thing happens to your second and third capital, you must surrender any bonuses to the victor that they want, and the war is over. Once you have read this message, type 12321 in the chatbox to let me know you read all the rules and fully understand.

FOR POSSIBLE FUTURE ADDITIONS TO THE RULES, AND/OR CHANGES TO TEMPLATE, READ BELOW THIS LINE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Many players have said that I should take off fog, as it would be fun to see what else is going on, who is where and what not, and that it would be helpful to see that your ally isn't going to betray you. While I support this, I also think it might be a bad idea? What do you think? Also, another idea/creation in the works to be implemented, is the "Supplies" rule. Its a bit complicated in its current situation, but I am thinking hard on how the kinks could be worked out. I'm not going to release too much as of right now, but it will add to the feeling of a "Real World Environment". What I will say is this, each player will be designated a certain supply depending on their starting point in the world, for example, oil from the middle east, and every player needs oil, or weapons from Russia/America, or food from blah blah blah etc. Basically, it will add to the ongoing situation of diplomacy. If your not being supplied this by someone, then you can't do this. Its hard to explain, and I have to work around how Warlight can't bend without work and such, and I have to come up with ways to make it work. Plus, if I want to implement this rule, I WILL need to add no fog, or it wouldn't work.

Guys show some respect to him. I would rather want a thread about a new gametype than one about bownies. By the way good idea, this is similar to something I am playing right now.

Well maybe with these new rules you will be able to improve your stats in ffa...
Since it seems that with the regualr ones you have won only 10 games out of 81.....

Excuse me for trolling a bit, but man what you have written is nonsense.
Since I don't have the time to say why, I just trolled you:(

Anyway i really appreciate any new idea to make the game better, but this is really really bad, and to make you understand this I've just done a thing that I hate (Trolling unexperienced people that try to improve the game).
So trust me that when I say that i'm sorry for trolling, because it is true.

Since the reason I didn't explain you why your idea is bad (of course only in my opinion) is that I don't have any time and any will to do that, so please don't reply saying that I have to explain myself, because I won't.

My only advice is to quit this, and focus on some new and good ideas.
Since you seem an active guy, I'm sure that you will find out some really good improvment.

So once again I'm just doing (or at least trying to do) positive criticism, don't take it in the wrong way...

Blue, I accept that. In fact, I realize I'm not a very good player, but all I ever want to do on this game is have fun. So whether I win or get beaten to a pulp, I really don't care, as long as it was fun and challenging. Now, on to the game type, while you don't like it, many people do. I have had people who have gone to me and ask I make the game. While you may personally favor the "see the person, kill the person", the type of game I'm creating takes more strategy than usual. I respect that you don't like it, but I also ask you to respect me and my game, and the fact that many people do like it. I'm not trying to reinvent how warlight is played, but rather add something different. Especially because I'm at the computer a lot writing reports and such, I need something to occupy some time. Thus I create "packs" that add on more fun ways to wage war and get destroyed. Yes, my stats are horrible, but like a lot of people, stats don't matter (except for the boot rate ;D) because I'm only here to have fun.

Well man as i said, I was only joking about your stats:P
Even if I have to admit that when I was reading I tought that inventing a new type of game could be too much for a non top player in ffa...
Anyway if there are a lot of people who enjoy your games, I can only be happy for you..

My post was made in order to prevent you from wasting time on idea that I still think that is bad:

1)People can ruin the game not following your rules, since some of them would prevent them to win in order to help another guy that is in any case his enemy

2)If people follow the rules the game is totally decided by the picks, infact since everybody must attack who doesnt declare war and even if he declares war he won't have any advantage in attacking since he has no surprise effect and he may be attacked back if the other player has an alliance, there are no good reason to attack anyone, and the game is decided who have the bigger expansion (pick are completely decisive as i said) and the bigger patience (boring game danger)

3)What happens if player 1 declares war to player 2 and both are allied with player 3?

But once again if people is inetersted and still be so after playing the game I can only be happy for you:)

um, blue, i don't see how "give up, and don't ask why" is positive criticism. and his ffa win percentage has literally no bearing on anything.

here's some actual positive criticism: the layout of the first post and the detail in which you have gone into will put people off reading. i found myself tuning out in the first paragraph, and when i tried to skim the rest of it i couldn't really parse anything.

you have written a whole lot of stuff before you even mention the first detail of the game (that is a 6p ffa). if i'm not going to be interested in the game, i'm definitely not going to be interested in mentioning you in the game title or whatever.

as to the layout, i suggest you put a short description of the game at the top, followed by the rules. number the rules, and put each one on a new line, in order to break up that huge block of text.

finally, screw nike, sasha grey and blue. they all help to make this forum as overwhelmingly negative and terrible as it is, and i think nike might be the worst poster on here. i personally have no interest in this game style, but i know some people will, so it is incredibly douchey to denigrate it.

you clearly do have the time and will to do that, because you have written two lengthy posts here. so why not just come straight out with your criticisms and not bother with the insults?

The gist of what he is saying, I think, is that this is a 6 player FFA, that is designed to resemble "real" warfare, in the sense that war must be declared and ceasefires agreed upon. Fair enough. I don't care to play this mode, however, for one simple reason.

You cannot trust people to follow rules that the game designer makes. You have all these rules for how people should behave, but no way to enforce it. Therefore, as an open game, it is worthless.

@Luxis, I found the copyright thing to be pretty funny too. Legally, it is not copyright infringement unless the person HAS ACTUALLY APPLIED FOR A COPYRIGHT. And to legally apply for a copyright over a game variation on Warlight (ie, something with very limited commercial potential) would be pretty silly.
