I think we should post people and their ghost accounts on here. People agree?

Scotty, quit being a chump - It's not a game if people are cheating, it's a fraud. People came here to play a game, not to waste their time in a setup. There's no good excuse for playing clone armies in warlight, period.

Devlin and I agree here. I just don't like the ghost accounts. It takes away a huge part of the fun for me.

And my reason for posting this thread was because if people know the ghost accounts, we can avoid them in games.

Sorry, I can't support a hypocrite. Good luck with your campaign and casual homophobic insults, though.

I'm homophobic? Interesting. I guess I have a few people to talk to. Idiot.
And how am I hypocrite? Do I have ghost accounts? Or do you just not know what that word means?

You're a hypocrite bc you're calling people fags for taking this game too seriously in another thread, and then decided to become the Warlight polizist and make a list of known felons. Honestly, I don't care what you do, I just enjoyed the irony of it all.

aw...horrible. maybe he's got a sling or something to hold it up?
ghost account are a huge problem right now, though. there needs to be some sort of control, here. all the cheaters are really killing the WL experience for me. i'm sure a lot of good players are leaving or never really enjoying WL because they don't have a chance against 2 and 3 players at a time. i've got one game right now that i'm getting conveniently beated down by 40 armies (against my 10) while the player allows another to just wipe out their entire control of two separate continents. There isn't even any PM's in this game.

Most of these problems are fixed by creating your own games and only inviting players you know to be trustworthy, prompt and challenging. The few times I've broken with this approach the result has been a bad game; with a player or players refusing to play, playing purposefully to lose or otherwise messing about.
By the same token you should only makes games with 18+ hour boot times. If you want to play a fast game, ask people to only accept if they want to play quickly. That way you get a fast game, and if someone has to stop for some reason no boots. Vote to boot and boot should be the same amount of time as this is just a backhanded way to boot more quickly in a 1x1 and a way for a 2x2 to end the moment one player is eliminated.
Randy has implemented a tool to manage your invite list. I went through mine and removed all of the obnoxious players that I could remember from the list. Now I just have to not add players unless they're the sort I'd like to play again.
The whole idea of playing two accounts to win is a temendous waste of energy. There's no rankings on WL and no prizes. I would just quit the game out, remove the player's names from my invite list and never play with either account again (except 1x1). The people usign two accounts can't be having much fun. I hate playing a beginner who has no idea what starting territories to pick, how to defend and attack efficiently and what are good strategies to employ. If you just want to rack up wins, play bad players, god knows there are plenty of them. It's infinitely more satisfying to beat someone good (or better than you are). In fact the surest way to get me to keep asking you to play is to beat me handily. Why ruin a good game with good players just to get a meaningless +1 in your win column?

Duke, I have a question:
If you only play with players you know or ones that have been playing for a long time, how are you supposed to meet new players with great potential?
I admit there's a certain risk involved with open seats in games, but I believe it's the only way to get new players into the game and give them the chance to become better at the game. I once created a game with players I found to be good and reliable. One of the players declined the game and took the time to say that they didn't know half of the names on the list so they were out. The game turned out to be real fun. Just an example.

I think he's already done that and found a good group to play against. In the beginning I saw him making a lot of 1 v 1 games to weed out the bad players with the better ones. I pretty much do the same but from time to time I like to make true open games to meet new people and see who surprises me.

Ruthless is right, that's exactly what I did. Better, more experienced players wouldn't play me at first, so I kept playing 1x1 until I got better at the game. When you get better more people want to play you. When you lose, look at how they beat you and try to counter it (hopefully in a rubber match). It's not much fun to crush someone who doesn't know how to play -- it's like playing your kid sister or something.
I only joined WL 5 months ago, some people have been playing for years. But it didn't take me long to recognize about 50 good players. Now most of my games are against them.
Avoid the Bullshit 1-5 minute games in the lobby with players who've only played a few times (or never). They won't be fun most of the time.
