We are playing some role playing games (you are in the Broken Arrow one), and the mechanics of giving troops to someone are very hard because the game is a FFA (must be). Yet when you make alliances, you cannot actually give anyone troops (as part of any deal or aid) without gifting a spot to them, having them place troops, then gifting it back. That takes 3 turns, when it could be done in 1 if airlift was allowed. Why shouldn't it be? Why not just have a warning so it can't be an accident?

One thing to consider is whether airlifts/transfers should be allowed to neutral. You'd have to make sure that did or didn't work if you changed it.

Instead of having it be a warning I feel this kind of chance would be better served as being a setting option, much like attack only and transfer only now are. Thus it wouldn't cause any confusion in standard games and would allow for this likely small subset of games to implement it.

I like having it a setting option like Richard said. And I don't think you should be able to send to neutral (would change game play too much) BTW.

I think "treat enemies as allies" option would change the game too much, especially the FFA-s.
But the way you suggest it - to be able to airlift reinstatement to an opponent is quite better option, I'd like to vote for that.

and when using the airlift on an opponent, maybe a limited range should apply?

What if you could airlift negative armies? So you take them from there to yourself! Of course with a maximum amount of armies you can airlift at once.

Airlift negative will be like stealing from an ally if he does not agree and attacking an opponent and then brainwashing there men so no.But if it used just on yourself then it is basically like an airlift that can confuse people.

Iron, if it is just used on yourself how would that confuse anyone or really be any different than the standard airlift? In both cases a number of armies move from point A to point B and only those next to the territories can see it occur.

Couldn't you put everyone on a team and tell them?

Then they could check the Attack Only box to attack them, and transfer or airlift to each other.

Good idea, but you would need to make sure it is impossible for team games (with 2 teams). I have seen way too many nutheads lose it on team games, and them sending airlifts to the other team would end it, even if we could win

Well, by default the option would be off. You'd only turn it on in a FFA situation.

Great idea! I would love to see that feature in Warlight. It would make a great option in the settings.
