Chris, the US played well. However, the Belgians played much much better. If it hadn't been for Howard, the US might as well have said good bye to any chance of so much as tying within the first 15 minutes of the game.

Howard was a good keeper, we had many times the chance to score but he always caught the ball.

Howard was incredible!

I wanted USA to go throught, but they didn't have luck in second extra time

Oh i think they have plenty of luck. With this many chances on Belgium side you have to have not only superb goalie, but also lot of luck.

Sure, USA had some luck but i think it was mostly effort. I thought outside a couple guys, most of Belgium looked sluggish in extra time. The USA walked it up very easily at times in the midfield. Belgium's attackers were great though.

Everyone know's Costa Rica is going to win though.

most of the shots were straight at howard. his handling wasn't great and the belgian shooting was poor. howard kept consistent though.

Howard kept low. If Belgium started dinking they could have made it 5-0. Glad Belgium went through though because I see them making a bigger impact later on than the USA.

big tactical question with the belgians is how many waffles they get fed. too many waffles and they will become doughy and bloated. too few, they will lose their natural belgian pep. it's a fine line and it could go either way. also, full-backs

There were some bars near me (in USA) that said they would not serve Belgium beers that day of the match. Pretty funny.

A game that should`ve been 6-1 for the netherlands in 90 minutes, is decided by penatlies. This game was such bullshit -.-

more should have been 0-1 since costa rica should have had a penalty and the dutch missed all their chances. still, aranka will be happy, so i'm happy.

It was like the Costa Ricans built a brick wall around their goal, the Dutch had very little opportunities to do anything.

they had plenty of opportunities. they hit the bar 4 times and navas was motm. and costa rica got plenty of men forward for attacks, going into a 3-5-2 and getting men in the box, leaving plenty of space for counter-attacks. they also played a fairly high line (in the first part of the game at least), catching the dutch offside very often.

Yeah, but that's if you define opportunity as getting the ball inside the penalty area. Because the Costa Ricans really played 9-1 the ball rarely came close to the goal.
But I should not complain really, Krul did an amazing job and Argentina will be easier I think (after watching them against Belgium).
