Firstly, I apologise for asking such a noobish question, but I've only recently joined.
Anyway, I've started to notice that players have a wild variation of boot percentages. Some have none, most seem to have a very low percentage, and some, such as Hell Bender, are booted from over a quarter of their games. My question is does this matter? Are there some game varients in which boots are unavoidable and you will always pick up a few along the way? Or is a high boot percentage a sign that something's wrong?
Cheers in advance!

If I didn't know better, I'd say you didn't like me much :p.
But no, it was a genuine question. I'd quite like to get a bit more involved with this site but haven't grasped what the stats really mean yet. I thank you for the answer... although I would have prefered it without the decoration ;)

High boot rate often means the player doesn't respect his opponents or possibly even teammates. Having a player booted can and often does ruin a game for everyone involved and leads to delays, especially in multi-day games.
Obviously sample size should be considered (10 boots in 100 games looks bad but may be justified, 100 boots in 1000 games not so much!)

10 boots in 100 games is failing to complete 1 game in every 10
100 boots in 1,000 games is failing to complete 1 game in every 10.
That's the same fraction if you cannot complete 1 game in 10 it's bad.
I use a 9 or 10% max for boot filters. I have also seen that 15% is used. I won't join a game unless it has a decent boot filter. So people with a boot rate over 10% I rarely play with or against.

Ska, the point was that a smaller number like 10 are more likely to be justifiable, whether it be due to internet issues, vacation or life simply getting in the way.
Having 100 boots over 1000 games is far less easily justified since it would mean multiple instances of mass-boots.
But thanks for the math lesson

I have dibs on the stupidest excuse for a high boot rate... when i started playing, for the first 50 games or so (most of which i lost of course), i didn't know how to surrender, so i either waited to be eliminated or left :)

When I create games, I put 5% max boot rate (and a minimum of multiday games played, but that's besides the point).
Although, I would really like sometimes to see bootrate separately for multiday and for real-time. In real time games, it's sometimes hard to avoid (I was booted on a big FFA in Europe 1600, with only 2 of us left... 5 seconds after direct boot time, as I was committing dozens of orders :/). High boot rate in multi-day is something completely different.
