you guys are so mean
it is clear that only gnuffone cheats by using 2 accounts on the ladder
when MOD and Potato are doing it it is not cheating
they are playing with 2 users not to help their chances of being #1
they are doing it to fight and protest world hunger hence the name swimming potato it is a metaphor of the ships carrying potatoes to hungry kids in africa they are selfless humanitarians not cheaters
and you might ask yourself how can MOD play against himself in the ladder and say it is not cheating?
well it is not cheating!!! if he plays himself in a random game he focuses less and it is not as fun so stop being so judgmental these are good and honest players only gnuffone is a cheater

Yes. Furthermore when MOD played himself on the ladder, he did not even realise it was him and played his best on both accounts while gnu knew everything and little bastard only faked the game.. :(

Haha ineffable you figured out my name!

But back to the point, I have never played myself in a ladder, in 1v1 each time i played with one account i quit with other. In RT ladder i played it just for competitive rt games. When I did a run with my alt on rt ladder I never played with other, now i only play with my main.

A - achieving a high rating on the ladder

P(A) < 1- (1-P(A))^{n}

Probabilty of player X to take 1st place (or a good spot) are less than the chance of use more than one account, where N+1 is Always better than N and the chance increase exponentially.

I faced myself 2times. One of those games this account won, the other game this account lost. That's why i say it's no cheating at all for me. And i never called gnuffone a cheater because of the 1vs1ladder. The ones who know me know also that the 1vs1 ladder rank doesn't matter for me.

i think the best way for cheat in 1v1s, is not let you win your alt, but is win from your alt agaisnt who he in top of the ladder... that's how you really can cheat with good result i think.

I think you should not play with yourself. Let alone speak to themselves. Honestly.

Potato - I don't know how you can claim that.

Here is your game log on 1v1 ladder with main:
http://warlight.net/LadderTeam?LadderTeamID=3940
(6 games finished between June 5th and 16th)

And with your alt:
http://warlight.net/LadderTeam?LadderTeamID=5298
(24 games finished between June 5th and 16th)

Maybe you joined with one and left with the other (I would have to look at start times), but you still played both accounts at the same time for 11 days. That is 11 days of trying to knock off people to help your other account.

So, obviously you joined with alt on 5th to make a run.

Lets look at your games with Potato to see when they started:

Swat - 5/29
Zacatron - 6/1

MG - 6/12
Wolfer - 6/14
Ultra Lawlz - 6/14
FlyingBender - 6/15
Widz - 6/15

In that gap you played with Potato again. So I believe that you were never joined with both at the same time (that you never intended to cheat). But there is still overlaps in games. You should be more careful and not join until you'd exhausted your games, that way you have no idea how your games with 1 account will effect the other.

What I ment is that I was never joined in the same time, I had games running on my main, I quit the ladder, join with alt, played with alt, quit with alt and joined with main.

Right, that is what I said. But the issue is if you join with account 2, while you still have games for account 1, you get your matchups with 2 and you can see how a win/loss with 1 might benefit you on 2.

It just really murks things up when you have overlap. I am sure it happens a lot on 2v2 ladder though (people change to new teammate, but finish up ongoing games(s) with old teammate). That is less murky though because with a teammate you are less likely to do something to game the system and just try to win.

Yes, but I consider playing both on RT cheating. Both are active. In fact, on 7/1 he played the same opponent with both accounts on RT ladder. I don't think that should be allowed at all. There is just too much potential to abuse things. All he has to do is lose on purpose with 1 account to boost the rating of the other. VERY easy.

It wasn't Odin, did not recognize the name (you can check 7/1). It shouldn't matter what that person thinks, all that matters is what Fizzer wants here. I don't know whether it is cheating or not (again, unless Fizzer gives us some sort of ruling we are speculating his intent...there is gray area in that rule). But, IMO that should not be allowed. I think Fizzer needs to come on here, clear up the confusion, and then everyone can comply from there.

It is especially important on RT ladder where it is very easy to control who you play/do not play.

I'll make it simpler, let's substitute the word cheating with manipulating the rating system to get an unfair advantage over other players. In 1v1 and 2v2 ladders games expire so the system itself allows multiple runs 3 months apart, so joining with 2 accounts as long as you do not play each other should be fine, because it is in the constraints of the system. Whether the system should allow that is a whole different thing (hint: it shouldn't). In seasonal ladder and rt ladder it's definitely to your advantage to play separate runs and choose the best one (referring to my previous comment) and since games do not expire it is in the systems intention to not separate your good and bad "runs", thus that should be considered an unfair advantage. The same advantage is in 1v1 and 2v2 ladders, however it shouldn't be considered unfair since it is allowed every 3 months. In rt ladder substracting variation kinda helps, but in seasonal ladder with only 20 games it might be completely gamebreaking if undetected.
